I know a little about garage sales. You will do great if you have the sale on Saturday the 4th of July weekend.
Yes, put up the signs for the sale on Friday on the busiest street near your house with the day and time for the sale. ( use bright poster paper) Arrows on the signs will point to your street or house. If customers want to argue about prices don't lower the price right away. tell them to come back and if you still have not sold the item you will mark it down for them. Usually the person does not want to wait for that time and they will pay the price you have marked.
Go to your local Goodwill store and see how they have merchandise marked and follow there example on pricing as they are making millions now.

It depends on where you live, but some areas do the best on Holiday weekends. For instance I lived near a lake in Illinois, and weekends were when all the campers came in to town, and there always more people. Just advertise it good

you have those that is all they do is go to garage sales I think you will be fine give people something to go and do. Good luck just make sure its clean and well organized people really like that.

excellent time to have a garage sale; high traffic, high energy, especially if you make festive signs.

Oh yes, more people are off work, not everybody goes away somewhere.(Gas prices, vacations are a luxury to many) You will do just as well, if not better.

yes it is ok, as far as getting alot of traffic that depends on how well you advertise
