Do you think its possible to have symptoms of mild food borne illness 60-90 minutes after eating the suspected food?
I had dinner out last night within 60-90 minutes I was miserable and was up all night. I am pregnant so that just made it worse. Does that sound like it could be the dinner we had out or a coincidence?

I ordered something very typical for me, pasta with red sauce and shrimp, scallops, and chicken. I was able to taste the wine used in cooking and wonder if thats what caused the upset tummy? Another gal ate the same thing I did and I'm drying to hear from her and see if she was sick or not. She's nursing a baby too!

I forgot to say that as far as food poisening goes this was mild. I am not dehydrated. It could have been much worse, but since I rarely get tummy trouble I am a HUGE wuss about these things.

Symptoms of food poisoning depend on the type of contaminant and the amount eaten. The symptoms can develop rapidly, within 30 minutes, or slowly, worsening over days to weeks. Most of the common contaminants cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal cramping. Usually food poisoning is not serious, and the illness runs its course in 24-48 hours.

I've had food poisening so many times it's really not fun at all. If you just feel a little queezie you should be ok. The most common symptoms are, for lack of a nicer way to put it, vomating and diarrhea. This could last anywhere from a few days to weeks... If it lasts more then a weekend go see a doctor!

It sounds like your 'baby' just didn't like whatever it was you ate. However, it's not impossible for food poisoning to start in that short a space of time, depending on what it was you ate and what kind of food poisoning it is.
Food poisoning can take as little as 30 minutes and can take, I believe, up to 48 hours or more to set in. I got food poisoning from KFC about 20 years ago... it hit me about 6 hours after eating it... man, I was sick.... I laid in bed on my back.... I couldn't move because if I did... not only was I going to puke my guts out.. if I'd moved an inch, I'd have had an immediate reaction from the other end as well. I was sweating buckets... freezing cold to boot. I laid there for 3-4 hours like that until the feelings settled down enough that I could get to the bathroom.. then I spent another 3 hours on the toilet.. non-stop. So, food poisoning is not something to mess around with... especially if you're pregnant because it can dehydrate you VERY quickly.
Suggestion... if you have any symptoms.. see your Dr asap!

i just had a bout of food poisoning that hit me within 30 minutes of eating the contaminated food! it was leftovers from a restaurant and i'd left them in the car for about 2 hours after i got home{i'd forgotten about them}, but since it was way below freezing outside, i thought it would be okay. in fact, when i put the food in the fridge, it was frozen. i heated it up the next day for lunch and with half an hour i thought i was dying! lol. it lasted about 2 days and i definitely learned an important lesson-a freezing cold car is not the same a s a refrigerator!

There are two forms of food poisoning.
#1. Toxicity - Chemicals made by the bacteria in the food maybe poison. This usualy occurs within 2 hours of ingestion, sometimes within 20 minutes. Technicly alcohol belongs in this group.
#2. Microbes - The are alive and when you eat them they make you sick. Usualy this takes much longer, anywhere from 6 hours to a day.

It could be the food. I have felt queasy 10 minutes after eating a meal and other times three or four hours after eating. It varies. Take care.

it depends on how long your food takes to digest. usually takes 45 minutes but what you're saying isn't out of hand. i think it's the food you ate.
also: i get sick when i eat out sometimes because i order things that i wouldn't usually eat. (like rich cream sauces or steak.. etc). maybe it's not food poisoning and your body just isn't used to what you ate.

That actually happened to me when i was prego! Yes food poisoning usually happens very quickly, if its more than 24 hrs, it's not food poisoning. Or it could just be morning sickness. I ate a sandwich that I usually love when I'm prego, but one time made me very sick.
