Hands down, your best bet would be a Subaru WRX TR. MSRP/Dealer Invoice is $23,995/$22,562, and fuel economy is 20/26. No other car will come close to matching the quality/performance/fun of the Subie.

Also consider:
- Mazda MX-5 Sport (formerly Miata) for $22,935/$21,187 and 25/30 mpg
- Acura RSX-S for $23,845/$21,754 and 23/31
- Mini Cooper S for $20,900/$18,892 and 25/32

For any of these models, choosing a lower level trim will lower the base price and increase fuel economy, but these are the most sporty/fun trim levels.

Hyundai Tiburons are nice sporty looking cars.

The new Honda Civics are nice and they get great gas mileage.

Saturn Skys are HOT and they cost roughly 25 grand. The first 2 cars I mentioned are closer to 15 grand.

Those are my recommendations

Get a Toyota Matrix. It's classified as a wagon, but it is a very dependable car. It gets about 31 mpg on the highway, it's unusual in its look, and you can get one for around $25,000 if not a little less.

I agree go with the VW Jetta Diesel, but make sure you can find Diesel before you purchase it. It is prevalent here in the USA I don't know about Canada!

It will get 45 to 55 miles per gallon (not sure the kilometer equivalent)

Chevy Corisa, Mazda RX 7 or a later model. Toyota . Unless you realyl want a brand new car, a 94 Plymouth Acclaim is good.

I would highly recommend the pontiac G6. Great car, sporty, cool looking, good gas mileage.

Don't buy, lease.

The G6 coupe is awesome. I recommend T & T Coast Pontiac if you're in New Jersey. (732) 223-0025

That Jetta will cost you more than $25,000. Avoid the Saturn ION. I have a 2006 and I don't like it at all.

Good luck!!
