In the book "The Yeast Syndrome" by John Trowbridge, M.D., he describes a medical phenomenon that can happen if a person has a systemic yeast infection - very severely.

It makes a person act drunk, without them having had any alcohol.

Also, if she is staying off of the alcohol, she may be having low blood sugar episodes. She might have a condition called hypoglycemia - and if so, it may be why she drank, in the first place.

You may want to check out www.hufa.org, for basic information on hypoglycemia.

If mom drank reguarly for many years and is now trying to quit, she is probably experiencing life in a different way and having to deal with emotions soberly rather than intoxicated. This can be a totally new experience for anyone who normally turns to alcohol in order to deal with a problem or simply to escape from it.

I'm not sure what type of behaivor you're referring to, but it takes time (whatever the behavior is) for a person to make the necessary adjustments to life without alcohol as a crutch for living.

shes prolly doing other drugs or something other than alchohol
When someone does marijuana, they can act like a totally didfferent person,
maybe shes poopin pills
does your mom have a history of drug abuse
tlk 2 her about it, if it bothers you and she isnt being the mom she should, you need to set her down (on a normal mom day) and ask her whats up she we deny anything most likely but then she will know that you know and that might make a diff. I'm not for sure. Tell her that you miss the real her and let her know that you know, adk to see a counsoler w her
Good LUck

Al-Anon is an organization for those in the sphere of influence of an alcoholic. it is in meetings where experiences are shared and solutions are found. attend a meeting and share-see if others have experienced this behavior from others they've been in contact with, and what they've done to cope with it.

Has she ever been checked out by a physican for something called being bi-polar. It is where people almost have a second personality and they cannot control it, it comes out whenever.

many sober alcoholics turn to medication in thier fight for soberiety, many have side affects. this may be the problem. if she is not medicated, maybe your just not used to her being sober. also it may be a good idea for you to attend alanon meetings to get a better idea of what she,s going through.
