It really depends on what goals you have....if you want to lose weight, then aerobic exercise is good (biking, running, swimming) if you want to build muscle, lifting weight, pulling weight, isometric exercises are good.

I ride my bike everyday also. I am usually home for about an hour. Bike riding is actually better than walking. You are using your lower muscles which are larger muscles. Especially if you have a lot of hills. The route I take is very hilly and I am exhausted when I get home. I really get a good cardio workout. I have seen amazing results around my waistline. Keep it up. Make sure you feel something and take the more challenging route.

ANY form of excercise is good, and its great to hear that you are committed to it, but remember your body will adapt to it after a while, actually after the 12th time, and you will not gain anything from it. If bike riding is your thing then stick to it, but change it up a bit. Hit that hill 2 times a week, go around the park one extra time, go full speed for fifteen minutes, add wrist and ankle weights, carry a heavy backpack, anything to change it up. There is also indoor equipment like the treadmill and the ellipticals, or you can hop on the stationary bike, whatever it is, just make sure you are having fun......Good Luck!

Sounds like you have a good program going. Keep it up unless you have specific goals.
YOu might take a day off from biking to stretch or do other types of exercise to tone the upper body. A day of rest is as good as a day of training.
Good Luck

The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:
*1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity. Get a fitness calculator that you can put on your cell phone and computer. This will allow you to easily calculate this formula, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.
*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.
Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as white potatoes) and drink lots of water.
Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Here is an excellent food pyramid that anyone can follow: http://www.rayandterry.com/html/images/PyramidLRG.gif?osCsid=26a424be471d1337e7c2f105d5c64d9d
*3) Exercise on most days by doing cardiovascular training and/or resistance training activities.
Read a book or find a certified trainer to make sure your doing all resistance training exercises correctly. A great book to buy that teaches you the resistance training basics is “Weight Training for Dummies”. A superb magazine to buy with excellent resistance training routines that will not get you bored is "Muscle and Fitness". Signup for the free newsletter.
A good book to buy that teaches you the cardiovascular training basics is “Fitness for Dummies”.
*4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.
*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A superb book to read is “You The Owner’s Manual”. An excellent periodic publication is the “Nutrition Action Health Letter”. A reputable test you can take to measure your biological age is at http://realage.com
Look at all areas where you can enhance your health. For example, make improvements in the quality of the air you breathe. Review outdoor air quality forecasts where you live and get an indoor air purifier. Email me if you want a good indoor air purifier recommendation and if you have other questions.

It depends on what you're working out for. If you're working out for heart health try cardio exercises like bike riding and running. If you want to get toned try weight lifting or pilates might be good. For flexibility maybe yoga or pilates. Talk with a trainer at a gym and find out what's best for your goals. I took up weight lifting because I wanted to gain muscle. Hope you find your perfect workout,

Riding your bike is great for your lower body but that leaves your upper body neglected. I take it you don't want to turn into a lady body builder and if that is the case you should take up swimming to give a whole body workout and for great toning!

Don't Give Up!
Ending an unhealthy behavior or creating a new, exciting one is all about taking responsibility for our lives. Finding the motivation to do it isn't necessarily easy, but it is always possible. You can stay motivated by writing down your goals, sticking to your schedule, and reminding yourself of what led you to set your goal in the first place. Change is exciting - we'd all be very bored without it. Good luck in reaching your goals!

Unless you are breaking a sweat inthat hour, you are not working hard enough. Speed up the pace, add some hills or inclined surfaces and you will feel and see a difference sithin a week or two.
