This is a long answer, but I promise it will explain the Gandhi thing!
The idea of Gandhi going to hell probably doesn't make sense, because most people believe that (in Christianity) whether or not you go to heaven or hell depends upon being a "good" person. The bible doesn't say that at all. (Most people never bother to read the bible.)
What it says is, that everyone is a sinner (commits sins) and is worthy of hell on there own merits. No one is damned because of their sins (the acts themselves),sins are the indicators of what's inside.God judges the heart. In that judgement, the motives behind "good" deeds are judged as well. We call Him "Lord", which is not just a name, but His title and position. He is the ruler, and us just doing our own thing, are in rebellion. He is merciful and patient, and allows us our lifetimes to make our own choices.
What determines were we end up is our choice whether or not to join Him.The terms of our surrender are that we confess to our sins, we believe that Jesus is the Son of God (the rightful authority who alone can forgive us), that He died and rose again(The act of paying for our sins), giving up our lives to Him (what believing in Him actually means, not just acknowledgement that "Jesus,God and all that" exists, but that we have to stand on that and respond to that).
Thbible also says that when we do this, we are born again. What that means is, Jesus sends the Holy Spirit to fill you and change your nature. This is very important. What this means is that your sins are forgiven, and you are changed because God (The Holy Spirit) dwells in you and gives you the power to overcome your sins. No you aren't just trying to not sin, you no longer want to commit sins. You want to be obedient, and now you can. The you are directed by His Spirit which you are in communion with, to do His good works.

Gandhi did not go through this process. Did he do good things? Yes. (Strangely, most people that have strong beliefs in this have a hard time articulating what these good things are. I assume they mean non-violent protest and being poor and modest.Among many other things.
Most people don't know that Gandhi did actually read the bible as a young man and embraced what it wrote. He got many of his ideas from the bible and quoted it often. He was accused by some hindus as being a closet Christian. However, he did not believe it any more than he did other religious texts he read, like the Koran, and the Bhagavad Gita. He did what most do, take what he wanted from them and incorporate that into his own belief. In other words, he still did what he wanted, like most of us do. Do you see where this diverts from what the bible teaches?
If God and the bible are true, then according to what it says, sadly, this man is not likely in the presence of God. This is a terrible thing, just as it is for anyone who is separated from Him based on what they chose for themselves. I can't say what is anyone's ultimate destiny, it's not my decision. There is only one just and impartial Judge. God does not condemn someone happily, but bases His judgement on wht each person themselves decides, to be with Him or separate from Him. As in life, so also in death.
But don't take my word for it! Sit down and read the bible for yourself. Don't decide these things by committee!
I guarantee that you will be surprised between what people think is in there and what actually was written in there!

I don't really know; I'd have to ask God. And the Catholic Church's official position on whether or not people of other faiths can make it to heaven is that they don't know either. We'd rather leave that sort of thing up to the one who knows best. Here's my opinion, though. The Bible says that no one can reach the Father except through Jesus. Jesus also tells a parable, however, in which people are welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven because they cared for Jesus when he was sick, visited him when he was in prison, gave him food when he was hungry, etc. Only, the people who are being welcomed are confused; they ask when they ever did these things. Jesus replies that when they do these things to the least of his people, they do it to him. So perhaps in loving others and caring for others, we care for Christ. We may know Christ - and therefore achieve the Kingdom of God - without ever having believed that Jesus was the Son of God. If God is love as the Bible proclaims, then by loving others, we are acting in a way that is pleasing to God. Surely such actions would be rewarded and not punished.

In my understanding, we're either headed to God or away from God in our lives. Therefore, I think that people who haven't accepted Christ or haven't had the opportunity to hear about him, very well might arrive in Heaven because they've lived a life that has pointed them in that direction of God. Now, I don't pretend the know for sure the fate of any person aside from me, but I imagine that Gandhi might qualify.

Also, the fact that people have proclaimed their own horrific actions, "Christian," does not mean that Christianity is a harmful or bad belief system; we know that there are some terrible things done, supposedly in the name of Allah by extremist Muslims, but that doesn't devalue Islam so it seems silly to apply that attitude to historic figures who made the same error in the name of Jesus.

Anyway, that's just my own personal belief.

No, it doesn't make any sense, and I don't believe for even one minute that ghandi is not in heaven with all the good people. You might want to read the parable of the Good Samaritan again, if it hasn't been deleted from the new bible yet. The samaritans worshiped the Roman gods at the time of Jesus. (luke 10: 28 - 38)

The Bible may have been divinely inspired but it was written by man. Man constructed religion to fit his needs. God is supposed to be quick to forgive and slow to anger. If you follow the commandments, which is what a lot of other religions believe as well, then you go on to your reward. Be peaceful and kind, patient and understanding. Judge not lest ye be judged. So I'll be hanging out with Ghandhi in the Elysian fields.

Some religions are close minded. They have to keep you scare so you don't live them and they keep making money, look at the pope, people say he was a poor man and he had no riches. HUM!. nothing against anyone but i which i could live like the pope. anyways, had to get it out of my system, but a person who dedicated they lives to others, did good and was a peaceful man, i know he will be in heaven, with buda, jesus, kwan yin and many others. The only way to have salvation is to have God in your life, heart. and live an honorable life.

Ghandhi showed through his actions and the fruit of his work that he walked with God, even if he didn't call Him that.

Look, perhaps mainstream Christianity eschews any other way of getting to heaven, but Jesus did not, and I follow Jesus. Look what Jesus said to the Jews in John 10 when they asked Him if He was the Christ: "But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you."

the love is even as God despatched His in straight forward words Son to die in our position so we would not ought to pay the penalty ourselves! those who do no longer settle for it are those who will go throughout the effect of no longer trusting contained in the finished paintings of Jesus. No the Bible isn't incorrect. No we do not opt for what abide by. There aren't any exceptions for all have sinned. Jesus is the way, the reality and the existence. No guy can come to God except by Him. he's the in straight forward words thanks to God. Gandhi, if he did not settle for Jesus Christ as Savior, did no longer have overlaying for his sin, hence he will pay the penalty for sin, lack of existence. Christians pontificate Jesus and Him crucified. they do no longer pontificate tolerance, yet attractiveness. The Christian is to be a mild to the international, a witness for Jesus Christ so as that no guy will finally end up in hell. it really is the paintings of the Christian. receive Jesus into your heart in the present day enable Him replace you and grant you with a sparkling heart and a sparkling recommendations. you'd be a sparkling creature in Christ, forgiven and headed for heaven!

Did Gandhi actually accept Christ before his Death? I do not know.

If he did then he would be in Heaven, if he didn't then he would be in Hell.

He certainly is a man worth admiring but I do not know if he went to Heaven or Hell because I do not know what he believed at Death.

I will not know till I get to heaven someday, it would be cool if he was in Heaven but I don't know if he is.
