You're not supposed to work all of your muscles everyday...this breaks them down rather than giving them time to heal and building them up. You should work upper body one day and then lower body the next if you want to work out everyday....it's not normal for you to swell...you should give it a 2-3 day rest....

If your ankle is swollen you need to heal yourself first. its hard to get back into lifting but if your serious its something you got to do. If you keep trying to work out with a swollen ankle, rather than giving it a week for the swelling to go down, you will hurt it even more and wont be able to walk on it for an even longer period of time. So i would just ice it 3 times a day until the swelling goes down. then start back up again. As for getting back into excercising. this is something you need to decide that YOU are gonna accomplish and nothing is gonna stop you. If you lose interest nobody's gonna really be able to put you back on track but you. :) hope my advise helps you with your problem.

If you keep working out the same muscles everyday, you can injure them. This is why people will work on their shoulders and chest one day, and then do their legs the next. Also, if you haven't been working out for a really long time and then start a very rigorous routine your body isn't accustomed to it. A lot of high impact movement, like running can also contribute. My advice would be to give yourself a couple of days to recuperate, and if it doesn't start to improve see a doctor. You also might want to talk to a personal trainer, as they can show you proper exercise techniques and also give you a plan to follow to help minimize the risk of injury.

The aches and pains and swelling are your body's way of telling you something is wrong. You need to rest a day in between workouts if they involve muscle strengthening exercises.

working out every day can be harmful to your body..it needs time to rest and recover from the stress of working out..don't work out every body part every day.alternate and do cardio. give yourself time to heal and relax..otherwise you'll end up tearing something and have to take even longer off

Ask anyone, it is very unhealthy to work out everyday. you have to allow your body some time for rest too. I was told by my physical therapist to work out faithfully everyother day and that you will see more and better results than if you were to work out everyday. I lost more weight doing it their way than my working out everyday.
