In a christian context:
The bible teaches that homosexuality is forbidden. So is revenge, and adultry and besiality.
I will no longer argue the point of how someone became homosexual.
I just wonder why this desire is not fought against like we should fight against other "natural", but prohibited desires?
I am not a 'homophobe", as I do not fear homosexuals. I am not a bigot, I am not intolerant. I have a firm set of beliefs that guide me and, as I am ot the arbiter of right and wrong, I rely on a higher, incorruptable standard.
I just wonder if anyone in the homosexual community has thought along these lines.
I guess I am asking if the same claim of "I was born this way" is acceptable to you if it is used in the case of people who like sex with young (pre-pubescent) children or sex with animals?
If not, How can you defeat their claim and keep yours?

AGAIN! I am not homophobic for several true reasons:
1 the term was coined to browbeat those who are against homosexuality I refuse to give in to the browbeating
2 any term that ends in -phobe, phobic, phobia is, BY DEFINITION, saying that there is a fear of the root of the word I do not fear homosexuals as a group, however I might be scared of a homosexual who wants to do me harm (of any kind) just I would have fear of a heterosexual
3 disagreement with the homosexual 'lifestyle' does not constitute fear.
4 religious belief does not constitute fear.
As for the claims that the Bible does not EVER speak against homosexual activity, read leviticus (old test.) and romans (new test.)
very clear anti homosexuality and in romans it also covers lesbianism.
God does, indeed, give you (us all) freedom to sin and non-belief, but the bible states that NO EFEMINANT (17th century version of queer) has inheritance in heaven!

as for the bestial and child molesting (and revenge, you are all forgetting that!) I am talking about the person's DESIRE
Someone states that his/her 'natural desire' is towards children or sheep, or the 'natural desire' for revenge and not justice.
I agree that apart from the religios context, anything goes. Watch out if that is what you want!
once again I am not saying that one sin IS the other sin, but that sin is sin and the Bible states that the 'natural' man is at enmity with GOD

Again, I am not even talking, necessarily about actions, but desires (which, I admit are the only reason for action)
I never said that homosexuality is the ONLY unforgivable sin, only Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is.
sin is not why we go to hell, we go to hell for not accepting Jesus (everyone gay and straight, jew, hindu, muslim etc...)
let's say that any of you do not like smoking (for whatever reason)
are you a smokaphobe? are you a bigot?
as for the bible, would God not have shown that being gay is GOOD if it were? why no gay marriages, and why was it included in the bible in the area where bestiality is proibited?

You are trying to ask a question, but at the same time you are trying to frame it to exclude certain important points such as why people are gay.
While you are claiming to not be homophobic, you are certainly homo-prejudiced. You believe that gay people are sinners who will burn in Hell because they do not fight their gay urges. You also appear to be quite a self-righteous prig which is often the hallmark of your kind.
When you offensively compare homosexuality to bestiality and pedophilia you are clearly just being offensive in pretending not to notice the difference. Having sex with children is called rape and is a crime of violence against a child. Having sex with an animal is cruelty to an animal. Being gay on the other hand is natural insofar as people are born gay, and when two gay people have a relationship it is consensual. This is why you cannot compare gay relationships to the other crimes you mention that involve hurting another.
What I don’t understand about people like you is that instead of trying to follow the example of Christ and do some good in this world you seem to prefer to spend your time on hate. You may pretend that you are not a bigot or an intolerant person, but clearly you are judging others, something Jesus taught people not to do. Perhaps you should get your own house in order before attacking others.

I don't really have an answer. I just wanted to ask from one Christian to another. What is the only way to be saved? Do we stop sinning once we are saved? I would like to know where does it say (in the bible) that homosexuals will not be let into heaven?
The last time I checked we all sin and fall short of the glory of God, He cannot look upon any sin! What isolates homosexuality as the only sin that will not allow you into heaven? A sin is a sin is a sin. There is no sin that is greater than another. In fact if you read Leviticus, it says if you mix fabrics of clothing (IE polyester and cotton) you are sinning. Get with it, all will be saved if they accept Christ as their Lord and Savior!
No one knows the mind of God only he knows the hearts and thoughts of his children. He grants grace to whom he chooses! Stop putting God in a box! Don't make him into an idol by saying "He will do this and He will do that!!!"
PS I am not gay, I just know that I have a lot to work on myself before I can worry about another.
Blessings,

To begin with, children and animals are unable to make informed adult (or for that matter legally binding) decisions. That is the difference between sex with a consenting adult of the same sex and with a child or animal.
In response to the first part of your question: yes, many very dangerous things are prohibited in the Bible. There are also many prohibitions that most of us (excluding extremely orthodox Christians and Jews) ignore. The provisions against graven images for example (have you taken a photo lately?) or wearing clothing of mixed materials (no more cotton/rayon blend). As far as the Bible forbidding adultery, I see few Christians these days making a very big stink about that.
I am not homosexual and am a Christian. Hope this helps to answer your question.

You know, I'd never thought about homosexuality/"I was born this way" like that. It's a very refreshing thought. I cannot see how people think that being gay is right....or okay-though I will say I do not hate gay people...don't get the idea that I'm just a gay basher. I will say this: If being gay was just part of how some people's lives should be, how can gay people not reproduce w/o other means. Honestly, if being gay was "right" then they should be able to reproduce and continue the cycle of the earth, but they can't. I'm afraid I'm rambling, so I'll end now : ) Anyways, thanks for your view...

Speaking from a Christian perspective myself I can say it is because society allows sexual activity to be " okayed " as long as it doesn't harm anyone.
Sex among heterosexuals is just as common as sex among homosexuals but noone is standing up condemning that. Sex outside the guidelines of marriage is forbidden in the Bible so Christians everywhere need to practice what we preach and not be ok with sex outside marriage for any persuasion.
I have had people in my church that lived together for some time BEFORE marriage that condemned homosexuals for their flagrant lifestyle- it goes both ways. Promiscuity is promiscuity.
And GOD forbids it.

Easy. Homosexuality is a HEALTHY part of sexuality, as well as normal for people who were born that way. The other things you mentioned, such as bestality, adultery, etc. are not healthy acts, and that's why they are banned. You say that you're not homophobic, but I would have to say that you are since you seem to fear a lifestyle that is different than your's. And who are YOU to say what is right and what is wrong? Not everybody here is christian, although that may be hard to understand from your self-righteous point of view.

Homosexuals argue that they did not make a conscious decision to be that way, so it must be natural. They are born that way—just as all of us are born with a sin nature and sinful desires (Ephesians 2:1– ). Tell them that it is natural for them, and for all of us, to be tempted to do things that God says are wrong. In the same way, pedophiles and adulterers (alcoholics, drug addicts, etc.) don’t make a conscious decision to "choose" that self-destructive lifestyle, they simply give in to their sinful desires. However, although sin is natural for unbelievers, that doesn’t mean God wants them to remain that way. God can set them free from their sinful nature (Romans 7:23–8:2), give them new desires (Ephesians 4:22–24), and help them withstand temptations (1 Corinthians 10:13).

If you had ever so much as picked up a bible and read it, you would see that *No Where* in it does it even mention homosexuality.
And the reason why intellegent people dont "fight it" is because they realize that to be self hating, wishing that you could be different (whether from being ugly, too short or whatever) Is ridiculous. Especially self hating because PEOPLE NOT CHRIST, said anything about it in the first place.
Love yourself, love others, THAT is whats important, religious or not.

There is not such thing as in the bible say homosexuality is forbidden. But every man and woman has to be responsible for their own acts. Religions are setting the standards of what to do and what not to do, and when you turn your face, there they are in the news, doing what they told you not to do. You as a human have to do what is right, not do what someone else tells you to. Live your life and do not point your finger to someone else, we all have done something to be ashamed of we are not moral judges here, God will do what he has to do, and he loves his children regardless of who they are.

How can you compare homosexuality with paedophilia or bestiality?!
As long as two people are happy and not harming anyone - what right do you have to judge? Doesn't your religion have something to say about that, too?
