Stubborn toddlers are the worse.

#1: Don't let them get to you. If they see you upset, they know that they own you.
#2: If they are screamers, let them scream (this is not easy), if they start quieting down, tell them louder, you can't hear it. When they realize they can't get to you, they stop.
#3:If they just don't listen. Put them in the corner, a time out. Stand right there.
They must face the wall. tell them they must do it until the timer goes off. One minute per year of age is a good guideline. If they try to leave. Put them right back. Tell them that now the time must be started again. Keep doing this until the timer goes off. Do not get upset. They feed on it.
#4: they throw tantrums - see #2.

Did I say bring Tylenol, be patient, it will eventually work.

You should also tell them what will happen if they are bad when you come in. Don't try to reason with them, they are not that smart. But let them know the rules ahead of time. They are smart, they will figure it out.

Eventually they wil get tired, now be real nice and play with them or let them pick out a book for you to read. And then smile and say, I really like it when you act nice, then you and I can play or you can play alone.

They may say they hate you, just say Well I love you. Then continue.

That's a tough one, they probably don't listen to their parents either. You might want to look elsewhere, there's nothing like babysitting ill behaved children all day. I'd bring up your concerns to the parent(s) of the child, and they should take them into consideration. There's not enough pay to have to deal with a bunch of crap from kids that are not yours. I've seen alot of stories on the news about frusterated babysitters taking it out on the kids they watch, and most of the time ending up with a dead child in the end. Only you know what you can and can't handle, and there's no shame in admitting that somebody's kids are too much to handle. Maybe if they have enough people tell them that about their kids they might think about their parenting choices. Best of luck!!

First thing get down to eye level with them to talk. Make a "bad board" for them every time they don't listen or are bad put and mark or line on the broad. then at the end the kid with the lest mark gets a treat.

Well first of all you are there to baby sit them and take care of them as for safety and to Care for them and play with them depending on there age you should play a game with them and tell them okay we are going to play clean up. and you scarrred all the toys and you tell them who ever pick up more toys in the pen wins ...and you could make them feel good like say Yeah !!! good work ...thats what I do with my 2 year old son... I mean you could play things that will make them understand what is a best way to listen adn to make your job more easier....if there being stubborn and wont listen then sit down into there level and tell them you will like to talk to them and explain what the situation is . like okay this is what you are doing and if you dont listen them I am going to sit here in till you listen and then play with them with toys ..movies ...park ...ball and other coloring books ...and clay..bublues ...reading ..music. and try having communication so they could listen to you...

I worked in day care for 10 years the best thing you can do is be consistent. If you tell them not to do something and they do it sit them down depending on there age or redirect them. Make sure they know you are in charge and not them. Try letting them mess in washable paint , pudding , or shaving cream and keep actvities short.

I have this probelm aswell when I'm babysitting, what I usally say I'm calling mommy if you don't listen, and mommy won't be very happy when she hears what went on. Also tell them that your the boss, and if they don't listen, you will take something away that they like.
