I except alot a checks in my home business, is there a simple program that can be download to verify someones check and/or their credit card. It would sure save alot of returned bank fees for me.

You can always call the bank that the check is drawn on and ask if funds are available to pay the check.
Just say that you want to verify funds on a check. That info is always free and you have the right to know.
You can ask some banks to but a hold on that amt and the ck # to cover the check when it comes through. Some merchants will ask the bank if fund are avail. on a much higher amount if a hold can not be place.

You should be able to call the persons bank and, with the account number on the bottom of the check, verify that the funds are in their account at that time. Kind of time consuming but better than losing money.

I've used a program which checks a credit card number's validity without having to submit it to the credit card company.

Do a search on some payment gateways like VeriSign or PayPal. I believe PayPal is the cheapest to setup ($0 in setup fees) but they're per payment % is pretty high

not that i know of but you can call the bank that the check was drawn on or like me accept no personal checks

Yeah, but they probably won't tell you anything if you call... It's not your account.
