They will ask you what you have done in your past and be upfront and honest, there in my department there is a 3 year clean period, if you have been clean for that long then you are good, but also they tend to frown upon harder drugs. It really depends on the department standards, but it is really hard to find a person in this day and age that has not at least experimented with drugs.

Probation officer requirements vary considerably by police department you would have to inquire of the local one to be sure if you qualify or not. They will likely need some kind of proof such as character witnesses, or statements from counselors before considering you for the job. Even if you can't work with the police department, there is still alot you could do to help kids in trouble social worker or working for the public defender's office come to mind.

How much younger were you when you did these "dumb things?" Do you have a criminal record? That could have an impact. In addition to the probation officer track, there are many social service groups (public and private, non-profit) that love to employ youth workers who can speak from their own experience. You will be able to make a difference.

Your background can effect you in any public servant job application. If you have been convicted of a felony then it is a good possibility that you could have problems being hired. You will need to contact the human resources office for where you are applying and ask for hiring restrictions for the job you want...

If your problems were before age 18 you can petition the court to have your juvenille records expunged. However, when you reach the interview process down the road you should be forth coming, because it actually will count as a type of experiance, especially if you sought help or entered a 12 step program.

With the monetary gadget it really is demanding to get a job. it would negatively impression you, the perfect component to do is ask your professor and if he don't have an answer then you definately favor to ask him the position you want to bypass. there are a range of applicants with a view to p.c.. the cream of the crop, that's why it would damage you.
