Well, for me, I don't really like the term "religion". Religion is a man-made thing; a set of ritualistic procedures for earning a way to heaven, which is not at all how I believe things are intended to be. What I believe in is simply the truth about where this world came from and the God that created it all, so I can't really say the world would be a better place, because because the world wouldn't exist without what you refer to as "religion."
But, for the sake of the arguement, I would say no. I say that because without it there would be no hope for anything beyond ourselves. Humans have the instinctive tendency to do bad things, so if there were no religion or no God or any of the above there would be no insentive for anybody to improve on themselves and therefore I believe the world would be a more violent, twisted place that it already is.

I don't see how it could possibly be anything else.
Would the world be a happier place if there was no Schizophrenia? Depression? Bipolar disorder? (Insert another mental disorder here)?
If one accepts the fact that religion is a form of insanity, then one must conclude that the world would be a better place without it. However, there are plenty of people in this world, who suffer from this insanity, and don't realize it's a problem.

I think if there weren't such a thing as religious persecution, inert or overt, the world would be a better place. Without JUST religion, I don't think so. Everyone needs something to believe in, whether it be God, Allah, Muhammed, The Kool-Aid man... whatever

Yes, definitely. There would be a lot less war and hatred and misunderstanding among people who are different religions than each other. It's true that most religions promote "peace" or whatever, but usually that only seems to be peace toward their own kind. Religion just narrows minds and closes hearts. And no, you don't need a religion to have morals and values, or to be a good person!

If there were no such thing as religion, then humans wouldn't be human.
Religion is invented by humans to describe and teach basic morality and to describe and teach about something incomprehensible which we call a deity or deities.
It is a basic human need to pass this information on to our children and to share it with other human beings,

You can find your answer by looking at countries where religion is banned. What was is like under communistic rule? How many people were murdered, oppressed in the name of no religion? Look around the world at china, russia, etc... happier.. I don't think so, except for the non religious guy in power!

I don't know if the World knows how to be happy. If Wars were not waged on religion then they would be fought over policitial ideals or race or social beliefs.
I think the world would be a happier place if there was no greed, hate or fear.

Speaking as a heathen-american(can I get money for that?Hmm...), I would be inclined to agree. Too many people get wrapped around the axle about their religious beliefs, people are out there shooting each other about it, trying all kinds of crazy stuff and they say it's in the name of their religion or in the name of god etc...I think if 'god' was up there, and paying attention, and seeing/hearing all of that, there'd be like this Giant Fly Swatter swinging through the atmosphere all the time...

Only if you think that chaos, evil, fighting and hatred is a better place to live in. I know there is some of that now, but you take out the religious people who are trying to do right, all you would have left is the bad.

IT WOULD BE A MESS that is for sure
wild beasty humans would have carried on all over the entire earth their violent behaviors and cruelty for others.
religion has done its good for humanity despite all the attacks to it
without it and without Jesus's birth and resurrection and miracles the human race would have already destroyed itself. That's hw bad it would have been without any religion, law, order and love of God.
