Now is the time for farm grown tomatoes. Instead of getting them at the grocery store find a farmer's market. Or next year but a few tomato plants and grow them yourself. You want to look for a beefsteak tomato or heirloom tomato plants or seeds. Hydroponic or greenhouse tomatoes are not as acidic as a homegrown tomato. And more than likely that's where the tomatoes at the store are coming from. I'm getting to the point that I only eat tomatoes on sandwiches during the summer because any other time of the year they are hard, bitter and just ick. Thank goodness my mom has a garden and I have an endless summer supply of juice, packed full of flavor, and bright red or yellow tomatoes.

Grow your own beefsteak tomatoes. That's what I grew up on. Very tasty and large. As far as I know, still available.
