Give him a place to spit. Time outs won't work because they are not a logical or natural consequence to this behavior. The next time he spits, take him to the bathroom and show him the toilet. Say to him "You can spit here. When you're ready to stop spitting then you can come out." Be calm and patient when you do this. Don't give it any more attention than that. If he gets more attention he will continue the behavior because he knows it is a way to get attention from you, even if it is negative, it's still attention. Once he stops getting attention for spitting, he will soon stop. Good luck!

Seriously it's your son and hes still very young, smack him in the mouth(not hard)but enuff so he'll remember not to do it,sounds cruel but works, the problem today is that i feel parents arent strict enough with young children, and being lenient isnt the answer, also corners dont work.(been there, done that)take charge while you still can otherwise when he's older you'll get walked all over and get little to no respect from him.trust me smacks in the mouth will stop this from happening..YOUR NOT ALONE EVERY CHILD GOES THROUGH THIS STAGE.besides i dont think you spitting on him like ppl. are saying to do.isnt a great idea.if i jumped off the bridge..would you?spittin on someone is vile/disgusting and will not earn you a thing.its just pretty much saying its ok,or he may spit at you..touche'..you cant cure a habit by doing the same thing..e.g. alcoholics dont sit in a bar if they are trying to quit drinking.hope you understand what im getting at.good luck

Spank him..most parents hate the idea of spanking their kids but what they need to remember is is that you aren't beating your child you're just doing it hard enough so that it hurts for a few seconds. He'll learn better then to spit at people if you spank him a few times.

You can spank his butt, or make him sit in time out longer, Maybe try spitting on him and see how he likes it.. I know one of my friends her son always bit people and she would do everything and he wouldn't stop and so one day she just grab him and bit him and said now do you like it he said no and never did it again..

It's new, a novelty which will be replaced
by something worse... trust me
Timeouts should be short and then
get him to hug his brother and share a treat together
Don't pull out your tresses,Mom ...soon you'll be bald ;)

put some baby formula on his tongue (powdered kind) it taste nasty, but yet it's healthier than putting soap in his mouth, hopefully he'll learn his lesson and stop the spitting!
