I've decided to quit being friends with someone who is like an emotional vampire after many years. Always depressed (nothing helps!) and never "there for me" or anyone else. Hey depressives, do you have friends? How ever do you keep them?

EMPATHY IS NOT YOUR STRONG SUI. I HOPE YOUR FRIENDS DO NOT ABANDON YOU IF YOU EVER BECOME ILL.

I am not a depressive person but I am in your same shoes. It is extremely difficult to be around someone who drains you. You will have times when you just dont care, I think that is normal. But if it is someone you have known for a long time...you just do what you can, when you can. Just take care of yourself and then you will be healthy to take care of others when they really need you. My mother is needy depressive so I cant just get rid of her but I do have times where I just have to take a "vacation" from her, then back to normal. Good luck!
