Water can go rancid. I used to store water in my basement in case of a long power outage. Then one year I went down and pulled out the bottles that were past expiration. After opening them up, I knew exactly why there is an expiration, they smelled like stagnant pond water. NASTY.

Because bacteria will form after the expiration date. Do you want to chance that drink? Not me.

yeah its jackholes messing with our minds like why is there a expiration date on sour cream its already sour mabey it just becomes sour water ? same thing with shampoo why are there instructions on the bottle people that need instructions for washing there hair shouldent be alowed neer water bythem selves lol Cheers.

Because if you leave it too long, it will god bad because bottled water is usually natural water. And natural means it can not be kept forever.

(That's whay you shouldn't keep re-using the same plastic container over and over again!).
