What you could do, is wait at the gate early, and when the flight crew comes early to board the aircraft, then you could probably talk to the pilot or first officer then, I'm sure they would be more then willing to talk to you, they might even let you see the cockpit. Just tell him how you feel about flying, and I'm sure he will understand.

Very unlikely, due to airline security these days that you will be able to talk to a pilot. Try someone from the airline you are flying - like customer service - they do a good job at relaxing people. And if you are too freaked out and visibly show it - there is a good chance they won't even let you fly.

Put it this way - you have a greater chance of getting struck by lightening, on Sat at 1:23 PM , with a purple shirt on than anything going wrong with a flight. There is also some over the counter medicine to calm you down and limit nausea. good luck, you will be fine.

Airlines are accustomed to people who do not like flying, talk to them and they will look after you. It is only the take-off and landing, the rest of the time it is like being on a train or in an automobile.

Get the best quality seat you can, business or first class. It is expensive, but my goodness it is worth it!

I recommend Virgin Atlantic.

I don't get dunes82 advice. Anyone apprehensive about flying is just as much so no matter where you sit. My wife was a white knuckle flyer until hypnotism helped her. Good luck.
