There is so much controversy now a days about circumcision. I know that in Judaism it is a sacred ritual and I was wondering how other Jewish people feel about this.

The reason I mentioned controversy is because of two reasons. The news on the television about a man suing his wife so that she won't circumcise her son is one. The other reason is that one of my groups enclosed a link to sign two petitions against circumcicion and it upset me.

chestles- trust it or no longer, maximum american men are circumcised. My source? American locker rooms. the element about telling a persons' faith by utilizing their penis is many times meant in a joking way, even besides the undeniable fact that different men are circumcised too. All jews are circumcised - so it really is a undemanding trait for them. And in a great number of elements of the international, this gadgets jews aside. no longer contained in america of a besides the undeniable fact that. maximum men born after 1940 are. i'm guessing that someone who knew what they were searching for will be able to inform the adaptation. All methods attempt to finish an same element - get rid of the floor that folds over, no longer something extra. There are 2 methods that hospices use to do circumcisions... one makes use of a metallic "gomco"clamp, and the different makes use of a plastic bell "plastibell" that continues to be in position on the penis for some days and at last falls off with the foreskin because the penis heals. it really is elementary to inform which technique is used by utilizing the top visual charm. because the jewish technique makes use of yet another type of device, it probable also has a particular result. All circumcisions go away a scar the position the floor is re-joined on the area the position the floor contained in the middle (foreskin) became bumped off. that is totally undemanding for the floor colour on both aspect of this line to be diverse hues. for instance, plastibell circumcisions have a tendency to have an exceedingly instantly, precise, clean, skinny line the position the scar is. The plastibell has a tendency to get rid of somewhat a lot less skin, so the top result's looser. Gomco circumcisions are a lot less instantly, the scar is wider and a lot less defined, and many times had a brown colour. The scar is "messier". Gomco circumcisions have a tendency to get rid of extra skin, therefore there is not any longer a lot free skin.

I'm not circumcised and I'm not Jewish but it makes me most uncomfortable...well obviously not as uncomfortable as those who are circumcised.

Why circumcise your sons just becaus you were circumcised?

We are not desert nomads, we have running water and can shower daily...come on guys wash!

There are no health benefits from circumcision that are not better addressed by the use of condoms, and if you are in a monogamous relationship there are no extra health benefits at all.

An ugly, scarred & desensitised penis with a dry and scaly head requiring artificial lubricants for any kind of sex whether masturbation or intercourse is not a good idea.

If you had a successful circumcision it's not so bad but some will have infections and scarring, too much flesh removed causing painful erections, sometimes infection requires total removal of the penis!!!!

The foreskin is a natural protective covering, removing it stops the natural gliding motion during intercourse and can be painful for women without artificial lubrication.

Uncircumcised men can anyway wear their foreskins pulled back, this actually makes circumcision redundant.

Don't sexually mutilate your sons.

Almost without exception Jewish males get circumcised. The most secular of Jews when they have a boy they have a Bris Milah. It is a sign of our covenant with G-d.

It is deep in the conscious of Jews. I find it amazing the universal compulsion Jews no matter how irreligious they might be have this done for their sons.

I'm not sure about controversy. I personally am Jewish, and am glad to be circumcised! I don't believe the hype from the anti-circumcisionists! It makes my penis much prettier and the chicks dig it. Hey, if it was good enough for Jesus' schlong, it's good enough for Little Stevie McQueen!

There is only one reason we practice circumcision: we are religiously obligated to do so. Forgoing it is not an option. Maybe that's why I'm unware of a controversy.

What controversy is there?

Anyways, circumcision isn't optional for Jews, so there isn't any controversy on the topic in our community.

To worry about the pseudo-scientific battles is ridiculous. The Torah commands it and we do it. The fact that we have survived shows that there is no long term damage..aside from the nervousness and guilt, I'm pretty well adjusted.
