check disk gives you the option to cancel before it starts. However, the only way to stop it once it is running it to force a reboot (this is not reccomended though)

Do u mean Scan Disk??? If Y, I advice u not to stop it. Scanning is a Disk & File Management Procedure. It's on scanning, windows recovers the lost file fragments. If u continue skipping scanning disk u rr risking ur disk as well as OS.
If u still want to stop it, there r many software available. To do it manually, u should be an advanced user with a healthy knowledge of Sys Registry.
