The Wing man - is a buddy who will keep the "best friend - and usually the uglier of the two girls) busy so he can chat up the hot chick. Sometimes the Wing Man will even "take one for the team" if it means his buddy can score.
Not great for you girls to hear, but it's the truth!!!

"Sailing on Wings".... I cannot help but think that the message for me.. or at least what I read into this beautiful piece of poetry.. is... When all seems lost.. follow your heart (bird) to find your "home".. If you search within your heart, no raging storm can keep you lost forever. "The Wing Man", oh yes, the wing man, he is the friend that goes for the ugly girl, while his friend goes for the good looking woman. The wing man, he is a true friend and cares for his friend's happiness.

It's kinda like this....your Buddy sets up a Date and she wants to bring her Friend for company. Your Buddy invites you along to keep the Friend busy, while he puts the moves on his Date. The crap shoot is that sometimes the Friend is better looking then the Date. But the idea is that he does it for you in the future.
