Try this link to the Texas Department of Insurance. It will drive you directly to the Company Search page.

It may be that you can get a good, unbiased answer from the Department of Insurance in the state where you reside. I live in Missouri. Here, the Department of insurance publishes easy to use data on their web page that shows the "complaint index" for each company that does business in Missouri. It may not help you unless you happen to live in Missouri but the complaint index for Bankers Life and Casualty FOR BUSINESS WRITTEN IN MISSOURI is 219 for the three years ending with 2005. The expected complaint index (according to the Department of Insurance) is 100. So, the 219 is a bit high. More important is what your Department of Insurance has to say about them.
Best wishes

Bankers is still recovering from the disaster that Consenco was. When they bought Greetree Bankers underwrote some of their business and the losses were much much higher than expected. (mobiles in TX and FL). The company is recovering from this and I beleive they will fully recover

Well, AM Best has them currently rated at B++. I would NOT buy a policy with them. I'd consider an employment offer, but the pay would have to be above average.

The only other opinion I have is, their name is a bit stodgy.
