Why is it that you people who seem to hate christians for pushing there views on you constantly feel the need to push christians into not beleiving. So some of us believe that God is there for us. Some of us beleive that God created the World in 6 days. What does it matter to you? Why does that hurt you so much, that you feel the need to pressure and almost from some post attack christians? Don't get me wrong some christians aren't good people, there are people who claim to know christ that don't follow him. I don't understand why you hate us christians who haven't even tried forcing you into anything?

Hmm... I'm not sure under which category you fall, but you're only partially right. Often those who *don't* force their beliefs on others are classified under the few who stand out as the overbearing fundamentalist Christians who take no time for another person's beliefs or understandings. Those who turn to an atheist and openly say "You're going to Hell" are misguided, cruel, and closeminded about the possibility that he or she may not be 100% right about their perception of the world. The other Christians who don't lash out follow a better guideline -- educate others about your faith and defend it, but don't waste time arguing that their thoughts have no merit, even if they don't believe in God. One person will not listen to another if either have no intention of gaining knowledge in their discussion. It's a pointless argument that many Christians sadly utilize.

So for those Christians who truly don't force their opinions on anyone, the reason they aren't liked is because of a generalization. A non-Christian looks at all the fanatics shoving ideas down their throat, and in a flash accuses all Christians of being so. It's a sad truth.

I have nothing against people believing that the world was created in six twenty four hour days. Honestly, I don't. What you choose to believe is your call, and I have no right to judge you for it. What I DO have a problem with is people acting like they actually do have the right to judge other's beliefs, or shoving their beliefs down your throat.. I also have a problem with people acting like they know more about physics, genetics, evolution, or geology than trained professionals. Nobody has any right to attack ANY science, until they have had sufficient education (minimum 4 years) to have any clue as to what is being discussed, or how science operates.

Again, if you want to believe that there is no way that anything could ever have evolved from something less complex, that’s your thing, and you have every right to do just that, and I will defend your choice, even if it is emotional in nature and not so logical. But, and here is a really big but, don’t pretend to know more than the experts! And when that starts to piss people off, or your constantly pestering them with your individual beliefs, whatever they may be, starts to piss people off, don’t act surprised, hurt, or the victim. You have already forfeited your right to that. Do you really think when the founding fathers put free speech as the first amendment that they thought that they could then have screaming matches over who was right? No! Everything must be in reason, and that’s the problem; most of these arguments aren’t reasoned.

This isn’t just a Christian problem, rather this is a problem common to most people, in one form or another. The Christians are just the most vociferous about it, and least apologetic, so naturally they catch the most flak. This is one of those things that we will all just have to get used to, because it is unlikely that it will ever go away.

I don't hate Christians. But I do want their religion gone. I also want Islam gone. In fact, I'm much more worried about Islam than Christianity.

My reason for being concerned, is because in our modern age, with the weapons of mass destruction we have at our disposal, we can no longer afford to let the insanity that is religion, interfere with our politics, and our lives.

We are on the brink of WW3, between Christians, Jews and Muslims, and they are all deranged. There are more moderate Christians than Muslims, so that's why I fear the Muslims more. However, I also recognize that the moderate Christians are very close to "waking up". Many of them have the cognitive ability to eventually see through the brainwashing they've been exposed to. And that's why I'm here.

The Muslims, on the other hand, are going to take more time. So I'm going after the Christians first. If we can get the Christians to step on into the 21st century, then we can use their help to explain it to the Muslims.

(Boy, I really piss off a lot of people when I post, don't I?)

When you say "you people" you are making a generalization. If you meant "Why do some people hate Christians" then I can attempt to answer you. Some, though not all, Christians are self righteous people who tend to use religion as a way to feel superior to others. They say they want to convert sinners from a life doomed to damnation, yet they really just want to make others feel worse so they can feel better about themselves. When their message is rejected some Christians become irate, insulting and ultimately cause the bad rap for the entire Christian community. Nobody on earth can live up to the standards set by the old and/or new testaments. According to these books everyone can go to hell for being fat, cussing, smoking, striking another person in self defense, eating shell fish, approaching a female during her menstruation, working on the Sabbath etc... So these standards are impossible for anyone to achieve in the real world. It does say in the new testament somewhere, "Let him without sin cast the first stone". If anyone hates Christians, my guess is that it is because so many of them cast stones when they, themselves, are full of sin. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Just as many Christians hate the sin and not the sinner, non Christians have the right to hate the religion and not the religious. It's when a stranger comes knocking at my door during meal time pimping out their religion for a donation that I get pissed, but that's just me. Chaz

Ok, let me start by saying that I'm not one of those people on either side. I, frankly, don't care what other people believe, and I don't usually share my "religious" views with anyone other than close friends and family. Faith, to me, is a private thing.

But I do want to point out a contradiction in what you've just said. Let me quote the beginning of your argument: "Why is it that you people who seem to hate christians for pushing there views on you ...". Then you end your question by saying: "I don't understand why you hate us christians who haven't even tried forcing you into anything". So, which is it? Are you questioning the self-proclaimed non-believers who get upset at those who judge, torment, and try to convert them into believing something that they don't believe in, or are you questioning those who go after all Christians, even those who don't try to push what they believe on to others. You're speaking from two different sides here. Which is it?

It's not that Christians are forcing anything on anyone,it's the simple fact that they are literally trying TO FORCE RELIGION DOWN OUR THROATS.have you ever had an agnostic atheist come knocking on you door? I DIDN'T THINK SO!!Christians seem to believe what they say is the only way to live life.whatever happen to just experiencing life, and living it to the fullest.why let some book convince you that there is only one right way to exist, not to mention one bible says one thing and the next contradicts the last,(you see the problem here)the bible is nothing more than a fable.proof is not a recount of how some people think or believe who, what, where, why or when, this is a hypothesis of uneducated proportions.until you find yourself, you'll never understand your true purpose in life.thus a Christians future is clouded with doubt to what direction they are headed.RELIGION IS JUST A CRUTCH FOR WEAK MINDED PEOPLE,Marylin Manson...

I agree 100%. However, the only Christians that get publicity are the idiotic extremist that have no clue what the Bible teaches. The Bible teaches a message of hope and love, but not tolerance. There are certain issues that the Bible is very clear on, one of which is sexual immorality. (Not limited to but does include homosexuality.) We, as Christians, get so much hate because the people with the opinions that get heard are idiots that take what the Bible says about a certain sin and they come up with their own judgement. They don't allow God to handle the situation. Christians need to learn that judgement isn't ours to pass out. We are simply here to guide the lost and teach them to turn from a sinful nature.

okay quick poll around the office revealed that even though 95% of my co-workers are Christian and believe that you have to be saved to go to heaven they have all met other Christians whether they be Baptist, Catholic, Methodist, or whatever that have tried to tell them that because they didn't go to their church and believe in their ways that they were going to hell. So if Christians (and a Christian is defined as anyone who believes in Christ by the way) can't even get it together amongst themselves why do you expect them to be tolerant of others? Anyhow when you get down to brass tacks its not about whether you're dealing with Christians or Pagans or Muslims or Jews, you are dealing with people. And these people have faith not proof they have faith. And if you choose to have faith then that is your choice it is your right as a person! Just like if you choose to need proof rather then rely on faith that is your right as a person. The thing that so many people loose track of is that at the end of the day we are all just people trying to make it thru life as best we can. And its not all Christians and its not all non-Christians but it is very easy to label and place people in categories. It all comes down to just letting people live and let live and if you feel threatened by views contrary to yours whether you are religious or not then you may want to examine your own position.

I am not one of those who go around blathering that theists are always trying to push religion on me. I have accepted that it is part of the daily life and culture of where I live.

However theists, and at least in the US, Christianity, is a great threat to my freedom, and the progress of humanity. Christians are constantly trying to take away freedoms to align the law with their mythological beliefs. Further, Christians are preventing the advance of science, so as not to anger their invisible sky daddy.

How many lives could have been saved, and how far advanced could we be if oppressive belief systems like Christianity and Islam never existed?

If the dark ages never happened we would almost certainly be a space-based civilization by now, and death and disease would be nearly unheard of.

I don't hate christians, I DO despise christianity though as it goes against everything I believe in, yet I accept that there are people who believe in it and that's ok. I DO get very angry when I post Pagan related questions and get judgmental answers from christians who don't understand that Satan does not exist in Paganism. It kinda puts you on the defensive.
There are good and bad on all sides and I will happily admit that.
It's just a shame that a few fundamentalists spoil it for everyone else.
