Getting a guy to notice or like you involves the use of basic social skills. You should be honest, direct, pleasant, and reasonable. If you really like a guy, but you haven't really talked to him - you're dying to, but you're too scared - here are some tips to help you say hello.
Steps
Get a new look. Don't change who you are, just try something different. Try a new hairstyle, new clothes, etc.
Be yourself. Everyone probably says this, but it's true! No guy wants a girl to pretend she is something she's not.
Don't cuss. It turns guys off most of the time.
Smile. Whether closed-mouth or open-mouth, do it. It'll say to everyone, "Wow, she's a nice person!"
Flirt a little - not like crazy, but a little bit here and there.
Try to be around him often, such as sitting near him.

Best thing you can do in this situation is tell him how you feel. More then likely you wont lose a friend, (you may even gain a boyfriend) and if you wanna look at the down side (all people do) its not like your taking advantage of his friendship now since you wont even talk to him. you may just find it brings you back into a normal friendship, or even dating.

Okay check, what you need to do is get him alone awat from everybody inperson. Have an one on one talk about how you feel. there's only two thing he can say yes or no. If, no it's was for the best. If yes it's going to be something very beauttiful and enjoy the time ya'll have. good luck!

i'm in the same situation. I'm absoloutly in love with my best friend. He is a 16 year old Cuban and we flirt a lot and he bites me and everything but i'm too afraid to ask him out. I guess we just need to gather up our courage and ask them if they like us and will go out with us.(we should ask our friends before someone else does).We only have one life and we should live it to the fullest!!! If you don't ask him, will you be wondering the rest of your life if he was "The one"? Go for it. What can be the worst that happens. It sounds like whatever it is, you'll feel better than you do right now.
