I know the first means "let the buyer beware." The second one looks like "house of lies."

Caveat Emptor does NOT include fraud. If you sold the car as 1970 and the car was indeed 1970 then you've done nothing wrong. His mis-understanding is NOT a factor. But if you sold the cars as 1980 and the car was from 1970 (or vice versa) then you have committed fraud (albeit unknowingly). If you made NO claims to the year of the car, then you've done nothing wrong. ==== > He had owned it for some years and believed to be 1970s. > The registration document must bear witness to this fact. Then you are in the clear. ==== > The new owner has resold it on an internet website and has > been advised that it is a much newer version (1980s) No. If he already sold it, then it is TOO LATE to get his money back. If he wants the money back, then he has to give the car back in the condition he received it (and I wouldn't doubt you are due some rental cost too). Good luck.........

caveat emptor - "let the buyer beware"

domus falsidicus - literally "a lying house" but domus can take on the extended meaning of country, household, family or race. So according to context it may mean "a lying family" etc.
