I know that ONE thing that makes the problem worse is stress. If you are under a lot of stress for an extended period, this can definitely make hair loss worse. Try to relax a little - do something for you now and then until the stressful situation is resolved.

Hair follicles have a determined time of life, every day its normal to lose around 500 to 1000 hairs. its totally normal but if you see an excessive amount of lost hair for example in the shower, brush, sink start using a shampoo to prevent hair form falling. Factors that might make you lose hair are a poor diet, stress or too many chemicals in your hair. theres also a disease called alopecia that ll eventually makes you bald.. so be aware how many hair you lose everyday

It's certainly normal for hair to fall out on it's own, in the shower, or when you brush it. But if it's coming out by the handfuls, that doesn't sound normal. I would talk to your doctor. You could have a protein deficiency or something like that. Or it could be as simple as wearing rubberbands or ponytail holders too tight in your hair. When you remove them, it might be ripping out your hair.
