At restaurants in my area (which is a coastal region) any lake trout menu entries are listed in the seafood section. So, I guess in practice seafood has become a quasi generic term, covering all fish, whether from sea, lake, river or creek.

Of course, let's be clear, a lake is not a sea. BUT, some "seas" actually ARE lakes! The Aral Sea, for example.

It's a bit of a conundrum...

Yes, all fish is considered seafood, even if it didn't come from the sea.
