If God all ready knows everything that has happened or will happen from the beginning of time to the end of time then "free will" doesn't really exist. If you have six different ways of driving to work and I know which way you will take on any given day, no matter how random you think you are driving, are you still actually making the choice of what route to take?

Just because God knows the decisions you're going to make before you make them, doesn't abort your ability to freely decide every action you will take in a day. If He made all your choices for you, I would say you had no free will.

You think, therefore you are, and because you are, you can choose.

God gave us the mind to make choices. I don't think it really matters how you get where you are going on your chosen path, just as long as you make GOOD choices and decisions along the way. Yes, you will most likely make mistakes and that is natural. Its just that when we do make them, then we need to learn and change the route we take on our path. Just like the "route to work" scenario, if we go one way and it takes 1 hour and there is another way that only takes 30 min., then you have learned to go the way that is better for you, and its most likely the shortest route. That is "free will". No one is making take that route, you chose it.

I think that God opperates in more dimensions than we do. He can see the future and the past as well as the present. It's kinda like reading a book for the second time. You know what's going to happen, but the author still made the choices of what words to write. God knows what you'll do, but you are the one who chooses what to do.

No, Free Will is a gift from God to mankind. It is not for any of the other living beings on earth. Only man has the true option of Free Will. However, man dose not have the faith or the will to use it to it's fullest. Still, Free will is what allows so many to reject all that God has to offer to them. So Sad!

Better still, did God know that given free-will, Adam and all his descendants would sin?

Cos if He did, then He allowed the suffering which is the consequence of sin.

He knew that 90% of the world would go to hell (given strict Christian commandments), but He created Adam anyway.

But wait up! We're not supposed to ask such questions. It is a sin.

You can do what you please and if free will was an illusion there would be no temptation or peer pressure, and who cares how many ways you can take to work what if you didnt go to work at all that day. Free will is something that God gave Man and society limits

There's a difference between knowing what someone is going to do and forcing them to do it. I know my wife well enough that I can tell how she is going to react to different circumstances. Sometimes it's a lucky guess, other times, I know without a doubt what she will do. That is very different from forcing her to react that way.
Having knowledge about a future event does not automatically mean that you forcible caused the event to take place the way you knew it would.

Yes, you have free will to take any route you want. God already knows what route you're going to take every day. Pray that He gets you there safely.

How does God's knowlegde of the future effect you're ability to choose. If you have a child and you offer them candy vs vegetable you know the child is going to take candy but they still have the free will to choose a vegetable.

God my know the outcome but as long as you can choose the outcome you have free will.

I've often pondered such a concept, and have come again and again to the conclusion that as humans are not perfect, perhaps there are some things, such as this, that cannot be understood within the confines of the human brain.
