Well, I still have faith in the human being so instead of saying most people I'll say some people.
Some people try and focus on the outside because it's more acceptable and easier to do that than actually take the time and effort to dig a little deeper to see what is really there. I think people are afraid to have their fantasies ruined if they do, but to quote G.I Joe "knowing is half the battle". And in my opinion I would rather know than be oblivious to the truth.

There is a saying in marketing that perception means more than reality, or in some cases perception is reality. What you see makes the first impression, you have to get beyond that to understand someones personality. You can do lots of little things to improve your image and make yourself more attractive, that will help you get beyond the superficial part and into the real person you are. In real estate there is something called "drive up appeal" if the property looks bad from the street you can't get a lot of people to even consider it, they just want to move on to the next. What is your drive up appeal?

Because most people are superficial, on the other hand, some people just have a preference on what they think is attractive, it may be personality or appearance. For instance, would you approach a girl for her number if you think she is not attractive? Initially we go for apprearance in order for us to gain interest on someone, to get interested to get to know better, like their personality. Sometimes personality doesnt capture everything neither do appearance, but I personally think there still should be even in the least amount, a physical attraction. What is attractive and what is not is completely relative ... beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Because the human brain is programmed to recognize symmetry of the face as a an attribute to knowing what is right for procreation. the way the brain views the body is the same. like darwin's evolution theory. the strong will outweigh the weak

Personality is a big part of liking some one but I have to admit if I am gonna get into a relationship or date a guy, there HAS to be attraction...thats not shallow but how are you gonna have chemistry with some one you are not attracted to?
