I was born and raised as a baptist and I know Jesus as my personal savior but my parents split up when I was 12 and my mother moved away from my father and I hadn't lived right for many years for the Lord and I had taken up smoking during the time I hadn't lived right but now I have gone back to church every Sunday but I still smoke. Can I still get to Heaven even though I smoke but tried to quit? I was told that smoking won't stop you from getting to Heaven when you die? God dose forgive everthing?

God does forgive all , but only if you ask him to...
The only thing that he could not forgive would be
never to have asked him to come into to your life..

Ya know, all habits are not sins. My DAD is a priest and he smokes so i guess God is ok with that, course its a different religion, but still the same God. If ya wanna quit smoking there are a few ways to do it successfully, nicotine gum, the patch, cold turkey, support groups. Maybe you'll find someone in your church battling or has gone thru the process of quitting smoking. Its an addiction......one of the most difficult to quit......And YES God forgives us for everything when we ask.............oh and call 1 800 nobutts......they can help you with the smoking thing.

wildernessfox - You need to reread your Bible. You do not get in or thrown out of heaven because of good or bad works. When you accepted Christ as your Savior, you were forgiven ALL sin.
Personally, I have only found that MAN has condemned smoking as sin. Some people say, "your body is the temple for the Lord", and I say, yes, and God also filled HIS temple with smoke. I'm being flippant, of course, but smoking is bad for you--that's all. The only thing that would send you to hell is NOT accepting Christ as your personal Savior. So really, you have nothing to worry about. Now, I would suggest you memorize the scripture below and stop worrying about going to hell. Your Savior is bigger than your puny, unhealthy habits.

Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

Smoking itself isn't something that will exclude you from heaven. However, you do have a problem if the Lord has convicted you of your smoking habit and you don't quit. If He moves you to change something in your life He will give you the grace to accomplish that change no matter how difficult...you never have to do it on your own. Not seeing the change through is disobedience. Disobeying God is a sin. You can keep repenting, but sooner or later you will need to show the fruit of that repentance, i.e., make the necessary changes.

You just need to know what God is saying.

I suppose some could say that if you smoke, you show disregard for yourself and your health. From that perspective, I would advise giving up smoking. There are so many really hideous things you can be doing, but I hardly think smoking is one of them. As for getting into heaven - God can forgive anyone for anything - but you have to ask for that forgiveness. God will judge what is in your heart; man cannot.

Heathen!!! Haven't you read the 11th commandment - THOU SHALT NOT SMOKE!!! Writen by some holier than thou protestant.

Listen, you are not going to hell for smoking! Smoking isn't a sin. People quote scripture like your body is the temple of God but they should read that nothing that goes into the body can make it unclean, it is what comes out that makes a person unclean.

Accept Jesus as the only way to heaven. Love God and love your neighbour.

What does Jesus love about you?? YOU! Your habits can change but you're an eternal creature made in the image of God and the Goddess/Holy Spirit! In the world we become influenced by things that can be quite negative. But Jesus said, "I came not to condemn but save!" He knows! He heard the swearing, cursings, saw people drunk, smoking, doing things they shouldn't
have. But He loved them anyways! And I know He loves you!
If you've had enough of the things you don't like just ask Him to help you overcome them. It takes about 22 times of saying no to a bad habit before you can really give it up. But with a new good habit of say giving that money for smokes to helping a good cause you start to feel ten fight tall. And if you fail or fall like a little
child just dust yourself off and try again. Christians aren't perfect but you can be assured you are forgiven and angels watch over
you to encourage behind the scenes. The main thing we have to do is prove God that He can help us even when we can't help ourselves!

You havent lived right with the lord for 12 years and your worried about smoking. Im sorry but I think we need to realine your thoughts, your to worried about yourself it shows selfishness and weekness and that would be a bigger sin than smoking I would start spending more time helping others and not worry about the smoking... And yes he forgives all....

I was a smoker for ten years before I found God, it was a struggle to quit at first but if you pray and ask God to deliver you from smoking then it won't be hard to quit. You gotta realize that the Holy Spirit lives inside you, think of it that ways the next time you light that cig.

You need to pray and repent for the time that you were back slidden from God. God will forgive if you are truly sorry. Not sorry as in you got caught or want something but sorry for doing it in the first place. Our bodies are the temple of God and while smoking won't keep you out of Heaven you will have to answer to God as to why you chose to smoke and pollute His temple.

Sounds like the Holy Spirit is convicting you.

You smoke why? Whatever the reason, shouldn't God be your "all in all".

God forgives when there is repentance and turning.
This sounds impossible. But he can break every chain. Watch them fall away. He died for what? For us to barely get by?

The power of the HOLY Spirit is available to you. Read Romans 7-8..starting with second half of c7
