First class isnt normally discounted. That is a full fare and you will never find a "cheap" first class fare. Passengers wanting the service are willing to pay the money. Some airlines do have in their fare structure a discounted first class fare, but its still not that low. Look for an A fare, but they are the first to go. Sometimes they are cheaper than coach or not much more. Call the airline reservations line directly to find out if that fare is available because I have found it hard sometimes to find that specific fare on websites. Each airline has similar yet different Fare designators. The only ones that are the same no matter what are F-First Class Full Fare and Y-Coach Class Full Fare. The only other option would be to book an upgradable fare and if stand-by for upgrade is available you can pay the fee. Only certain fares are upgradable. Any tickets purchased on Priceline, Cheap Tickets, Hotwire, Lowestfare....etc, the "Deeply Discounted" websites are non-upgradable. Look for a B, H,K,M, Q or Y fare. Those are the upgradable's on most airlines, but again the designators can vary by airline.

The other option is to go to the airport to the ticket counter and have the ticket agent price and or book it directly for you because they will be able to see whats available easier than these websites.

You can e-mail me personally if you want further help on finding these fares. Just let me know your departure cities and dates and I can see what I can find for you if you are having a hard time.

If you are flying overseas look into getting American Express Platinum Card ($395 a year) they offer 2 for 1 First and biz class tickets. Domestically I would never pay full F, really not worth it, I use miles or points to upgrade, granted it's not 100% guarantee that you will get the seat but if you choose your flights well, chances are you can get them. Some domestic carriers will upgrade you based on class of booking; full Y usually gets you up on the list to upgrade. Check out the site below click miles and more link and choose the airline you like and see what is going on.
Good Luck
