I'm Canadian and it's legal in my Province but it is NOT sold in any stores let alone in cigarette packs so pay no attention to the person above me. Also, when you try to take it back across the border to get back to the USA be prepared to be arrested.

Due to widespread illegal use of cannabis as a recreational drug its legal or licensed use in medicine is now a controversial issue in most countries.

There are many competing claims regarding the use of cannabis in a medicinal context. Some claim that it is effective for a wide spectrum of medical problems, while others limit its efficacy to a few specific circumstances. On the other side of the debate, there are those who feel that cannabis simply has no legitimate medical uses, and others who feel that there are theoretical uses that are superseded by more effective treatments using other drugs. As an example, Dr. Stuart Hoffman, formerly a private oncologist and now working for ChoicePoint, a drug testing company, has claimed that other combinations of drugs render any potential use of cannabis outdated .

Cannabis was listed in the United States Pharmacopeia from 1850 until 1942, however the United States federal government does not currently recognize any legitimate medical use.

If marijuana played no part in medical use, the FDA would not have ever approved the prescription form of THC (dronabinol), Marinol. If you cannot legally get prescribed the plant form, which many people prefer to the pills due to side effects (primarily quickness of effect), you might be able to get the pill form as a last resort. Sounds like you might need klonopin and morphine or fentanyl patches, not marijuana. I believe its most common use medicinally is for increased appetite in chemotherapy patients.

I believe it was banned in most states due to the fact that the FDA showed it had no effective value. Might want to check that first. If need is high, you would need to get treatment from out of country or legal state. Otherwise, find a prescription drug that isn't illegal. Most likely that would work better anyway.

Search for a medical marijuana clinic near you and schedule an appointment. A professional there will give you a diagnosis and issue you a card. Once you have the medical marijuana card, you can go to any marijuana dispensary and buy it or you can legally grow it.
