You can define them as a cult:
Christian cults are "those religious groups who used (possibly exclusively) non-standard translations of the Bible, put additional revelation on a similar or higher level than the Bible, or had beliefs and/or practices deviant from those of traditional Christianity." (Wikipedia)

Ok, the only thing I have to say on this subject (since it's really hard to have an actual debate when you can't reply to my comment) is that people do not pray to the statues of the saints, they pray to the saints that the statues represent. It would be like you looking at a picture of someone while writing them a letter. You're not writing the picture a letter, you're writing that person the letter. And praying to saints is fine. I may be wrong about this, but I think when you pray to a saint, you're really praying to God through that saint, and God condones that. It's sort of like, there's so many people in the world that God can't help someone find their lost keys right now, so let Saint Anthony do it. I think. Don't quote me on that.
And to answer the real question . . . I think the church has problems, yeah, but you have to separate the church from the religion. Just because I don't like what the church does doesn't mean I'm going to stop being Catholic.

And you Steely, begin out confessing your biased opinion and also have the audacity to come back-on as an educated on Catholicism? Tsk, tsk! Historically that is what's True approximately the Catholic Church. one million. It is the long-established, respectable Christian Church. two. The Catholic Church gave beginning to the Christian Bible (no longer the opposite direction round). three. Most excommunications within the Catholic Church are self-imposed. No one (the phrase you have been making an attempt to make use of I suppose) is: Ousted. four. Gays don't seem to be persecuted because the Catholic Church does no longer condemn the sinner however handiest the sin. Gay-habits is condemned as sinful as is different varieties of immoral habits. five. Non-believers are field to lectures of fireplace and brimstone??? Ask your self this primary, "Why could a non-believer even pay attention to any such lecture?" Then ask your self this, "How could this be any distinctive than some other non-Catholic Christian witnessing to people who could lend an ear?" By the way in which, hearth-and-brimstone is pass. Does everlasting separation from the Love of God sound any bigger to you? What are my perspectives? First, the uninformed understand no longer what they talk of; moment, I afflicted to gain knowledge of my Faith that is why I am an educated Catholic who loves the Church headquartered through Jesus Christ, The Catholic Church. I think the catholic church is the biggest religious cult in the history of the world. They have taken the Holy Bible and changed it to suit them.
They prey to idols and saint this & saint that.
I believe that the reason the catholic church is having the problems it is today is slowly people are starting to wake up & realize just how wrong the catholic church is.
Another reason why I think the catholics are nothing more than a religious cult is because they talk out of both sides of their mouth; what I mean by that is,they tell you don't do this or that,or you won't make it to Heaven...then they will turn around and do exactly what they told you not to do.EXAMPLE: don't have sex with anyone untill you are married;but yet there proof that ministers have had sex with nuns.
The catholic church is proven themselves to be totally hipocritical in what they teach & preach.

There's so much wrong with what you have said, it would be like arguing that dogs are better than cats when you asked if the sky is blue. There is neither logic nor truth to any of your "presumptions" about the Cathollic church and catholicism. In addition, you have failed to put your question into any sort of cohesive format that makes sense.
There are many places online where you could learn the truth about what the catholic church teaches about saints and Mary, if you cared to discover the truth. You clearly have some hatred toward the church.
I will pray for you. God bless.

I pretty much agree with everything you said. It also states in the Bible"call no man your father upon the earth" (Mathew23:9) and yet they call the pope "Holy Father". There are a lot more things that the catholics have done throughout the ages that are against God.It's very difficult to convince a catholic that they are wrong though.that stuff is drilled into there heads. The ways of man, not God.
There are also many places online where you can learn the truth about the Catholic doctrine.

I am a Catholic. All those are the way we pray for God. Every religion has it's way, and you can at least respect that just like I respect your opinion about this. As for the corruptness of the church, they are only human and are vunerable to making mistakes like any other human being, but they are only a minority that's corrupt. As for the popes, also only some are corrupt. An example of a pope that's not corrupt is the last pope Jean Paul II. He forgave the person who shot him and tried to assassinate him. Not just anybody can do such a thing.

Your very angry, keep praying directly to Jesus ' he is GOD and respect other religions because after all they all beleive in the same God just speak a different language when communicating with him. I agree saints are not for praying to. By the way I´m Catholic and I don´t pray to statues, just Jesus...

Let's see....... They preach kindness, understanding and acceptance, yet they seek to abolish gay marriage and free choice to women. They tell us to follow the ten commandments, but bend their own rules as they see fit. Their priests commit sexual crimes against children, yet they seek only to answer to the church, not the law and I think they see it as more of a crime against the faith than a crime against the children.
How do I feel about The Catholic Church? I think it's become a mockery of all that is good and true. I am embarassed to have been basptised a catholic. And I have not practiced the faith since I was 16.

The Catholic church is really no different than any other church you could name. None follow the wording of bible perfectly, they all pick and choose to their liking or for what best serves their cause. All churches are corrupt, bloated organizations that feed off and promote peoples fears. There is no real need for any church. Think about it, if your god is real, if he is an all powerful, omnipotent being....what real purpose would any church serve?
