Hospital bills were the most expensive, I think. But we paid by installments (monthly) so it wasn't such a pain. The rest (formula, diapers, baby stuff) you just go by day-to-day or week-by-week (depending on when you need stuff). Car seats are an investment - sort of - because you only spend on it once and it lasts for a long time (the next time you spend on another car seat would be by the time your baby hits 1; there are a lot of car seats that you can buy that can be used as rear-facing, then foward-facing later on - it's a little bit more but you can use it for a really long time, so invest on those kinds, i.e. convertible seats). Furniture again are sort of investment pieces because you can use those for all your kids - there are a lot of nice cheaper furniture that you can buy and save a ton of money at the same time (check out Costco.com, that's where we bought furniture for our baby's nursery - they were cheaper than most, like Pottery Barn which was too expensive - and yet the furniture looks like they come from an expensive store).

The expenses will all be worth it, I promise you.

Goodluck!

All of the above but I would say Diapers because the baby goes alot and they are in them till you potty train. It could be medical bills if you don't have insurance but if you have good insurance that won't be it. Car seat you only have 2-3 to buy now a days till they meet the height and weight requirements to be in just a seatbelt. Furniture only if you pay for designer Furniture and that would be for the crib/dresser to the regular bed and dresser they will use till they move out. Otherwise Diapers

Diapers, and furniture. Insurance will cover the bulk of medical bills and most hospitals give you a car seat when you leave the hospital.

Without insurance it would be the medical bills but I had it so I didnt have to pay a thing. I'd say that once you add up what you spend for diapers and wipes, thats the most expensive.

The medical bills!!

Babies can be expensive, but other things tend to be given to you. The diapers add up, but the biggest expense that comes at you at once is the medical bills.

Medical bills

My son spent 8 days in the NICU at $800 a day. Luckily insurance paid for it. My breast pump was $250 so that was probably the single most expensive.

Did you ever realize that you pay somewhere around $400-500 a year just for diapers? WOW!

Other than medical bills, it was the breast pump (for a single item). for ongoing expenses, it would be diapers. We buy used for furniture.

Medical bills, but it totally depends on your insurance. I think that my portion of the bill was $300 with my first child and will be $500 with my second. Both a fantastic deal when you see how much the insurance co. has to pay!
