I recall seeing something in the credits about the show being based off Delta Force, but maybe that was my imagination. If the show doesn't portray any military branch very well, which is closest as far as the missions, training etc?

Also, do you like the show (no bearing on best answer, just curious)? I don't like the parts about the wives day-to-day lives, but I do enjoy when Dennis Haysbert and the gang kick azz and take names.

It's the Army. Delta Force, to be precise. The show is based on a book called "Inside Delta Force" by Eric Haney.

I love the show. I think the day-to-day lives of the wives is a very important part of the show. Army wives do so much and get so little in return!

Based of the Army Airborne units. There are two main units which is the 101st and the 82nd airborne.

They are Army Rangers so they are Airborne qualified but not Delta.

I'm the same, I like the fighting and shooting parts the best. I thinks its pretty realistic from what I know about what "doesn't exist".
