Do women really get upset if a man holds a door open for them?

I imagine that these same people would be upset if a door were allowed to slam in their faces.

some feminists claim that opening doors for women is a vestige of patriarchy.

I have to disagree. I'm a feminist, but right now feminists are going crazy and are trying to make women a higher authority than men. I agree on equality for the sexes, but not one sex higher than the other. After saying that, I will answer your question.

When a man opens the door for a woman it isn't sexist. In fact, it's proper etiquette. You see, it is polite to open the door for anybody behind you, but it's just stressed upon females. Some feminists need to learn that there's nothing sexist about it. I mean, men are not trying to label you as too weak to open the door they're just being politely. Anyways, your supposed to open the door for anyone! It's just polite.

I think the majority of women like to have a guy open a door for them. Certainly my friends love it when a guy opens a door for them. It shows that they are a gentlemen. I had a guy who pushed in chairs, opened doors, and a lot of other stuff for me. It was great; it made me feel special. So keep on opening doors!!!!

i would like to think not..and if they do then me being a polite little country boy must piss women off all the time because i always hold doors open when im going through before a woman

it's a sign of respect and being gentlemen.... most men do not do this.. this is something else that was lost a long time ago... along with managomy, truthfulness, courting, no sex before married... you know the things REAL men use to do

No I really don't get upset. In fact, I appreciate the kind gesture. There aren't many gentlemen left these days.

Not this woman. I had it done once by someone about 2 months or so ago, and it meant the world to me. I will never forget it.........I think of it over & over again.
