i just bought a nest for my zebra finch it is shaped like a gord but is made of grasses and stuff like that will they nest in it? Or should i buy a nest box ar a nest that is open like a robin nest (for exzample)

When they are ready to breed, they will nest in just about anything. I have even seen mine trying to build nests in their food dish. So, yes the nest you bought should work just fine. I believe the best nest is free so I like to make my own out of those small single size milk or OJ cartons. Plus, when they are done using the nest I can just throw it away instead of trying to clean it out to re use it.

Every finch I've ever seen has nested in the straw or grass nests. My parakeets only poop on their nest box (the wooden kind)

if you give your finches torn up pieces of newspaper, they will make a nest of it, no need to purchase nests, they are very good nest builders, the male does all the building

Frankly, I find Zebra finches don't care much. I had a couple lay an egg in their food dish on their seed. With Zebras, if they want to lay an egg, they'll do it :D

It depends on what your bird prefers. You'll just have to wait and see it it uses the one you bought or not.
