Cut off all ties. Don't call. If he calls, hang up without saying a word. Block his emails (and calls). Don't change your life style, just keep living. If he gets a bit too close, violent or scary--do not hesitate to notify your friends, family and even the authorities.
Not to scare you, but to be real, most violent sexual crimes are of people whom are known. Don't be a statistic!

Tell him to go away or you will get a restraining order on him. Seriously, some people become obsessed and start to do crazy things. Protect yourself and be upfront with him...you are in no way interested in him at all!!!

good luck, my sister has been trying to get rid of one nut for over 15 years, he throws weed killer on her grass, she has taken him to court several times, he has been to jail, but he continues. my sis has been married for over 10 years but he won't give up, the guy has a wife and family also. something just snaps in a persons head and their ego is controlling their actions, they can't accept they weren't wanted.

Just ignore him. Completely. Ignore calls, e-mails, if he shows up at your home/work/etc. threaten to file a restraining order.
Make it completely clear that you're not the slightest bit interested.
