I personally love it. My mother homeschools me through a program called Pep+. It stands for personalized education program. And it was my own choice to be homeschooled. And at any time and I can go to public school if i want to. Also, some people say that your isolated and lonely, But that is so not true! Our program has fieldtrips, craft days, and end of the year parties.

I chose to be home schooled for my last three years of high school. Home schooling is not for everyone. You need a few things to be successful:
1) Willing parents
2) A space of your own in which to concentrate
3) Some creativity
4) Assertiveness to tell your parents what you want to learn or how you prefer learning
5) Most importantly, the will to be successful.
Now, success is your definition. My definition was to do school for 3 hours every day, whether I felt like it or not, and to find ways to enjoy it. That really was the fun part.
I don't know about anybody else, but that whole "Home schooled kids are so sheltered" thinking was not true for me!
I was very involved in church, I had friends from years previous in regular school, and we joined a local school-district approved homeschool society. I made some friends there, we went on field trips, we shared projects, and learned new ways to learn content.
The number one rule of home schooling is you are only limited by your own choices. I chose to be as involved in my education as my parents would allow me. For example, they let me decide on four different areas of science to study during my senior year- it was great. Because it was interest driven, it was my most successful year in science during those three years, and I truly learned a lot.
Home schooling does have other limitations as well, that may not be too favorable, but you can deal with them. Your cooperating teacher (not your parents) may not be as reliable or helpful as you would hope, or, you get stuck doing an online chemistry course when what you really need is a hands-on lab.
I would say home schooling is great, if you and your parents agree there are just as many teachers in your home as there are learners. That's something I tell my own kids in my public school classroom- I am now a fourth grade teacher. The motivation and creative thinking I picked up during home schooling drove me to be successful later in college, and now as a teacher as well. :)

I loved being home schooled, I was home schooled all until I entered High School. Home schooling is awesome. Its definately a good way to get ahead in certain subjects and have a flexible day in which you can get your work done, and take breaks as needed. I like the flexibility of your schedule a lot. Going to school has some advantages, like getting teachers specialized in what they teach. But one big difference in the work between home schooling and regular school is with home schooling you do your work then you're done for the day, with regular school you go to school then come home and have homework to do. Don't listen to people who weren't home schooled who say you never have any friends.
My biggest pet peeve is people who say home schoolers don't have friends. I had so many friends while home schooling. I don't know why they they think that you don't have as many friends. As long as you are part of a group, home schooled through a school, or another type of support group, then you have just as many friends as people who go to school have.

My daughters typical home schooling day: Get up whenever you feel like it. Eat as slowly as you can while in front of the TV. Eventually get to do some work, either in the kitchen or in the bedroom.... 1-2 hours later it's back to the TV. She has no social life. BTW: I have NO say in this, her Mom does.
My suggestion to you is to get the child on a strict routine. Go to a gym with the child for exercise and association, join an activity club too.....

It doesn't feel too different from public school except that you have actual social experiences and that your teachers will probably be harder on you than your parents.
I was homeschooled for almost 5 years, now I'm in public school again
