Well if its a pup I would think you could get your friend used to being around the pup. Then when it grows up maybe she wont be scared of it since they will have known each other for a long time. I"d only lock up the dog if its a last resort. Often that makes the situation worse.

I'm also not too fond of dobermans because they have attempted to attack me before. However, they can be very good dogs.
Most of the mean ones have either been trained that way, or are from puppy-mills- which unfortunately encourage inbreeding, which can result in mental problems for the dog.
From what you've said, that won't be a problem with these puppies. As for your friend who's scared- well, you may want to close the dog away while your friend is visiting.
Good luck with the pup!

Well, it's not up to your friend if you get the dog or not. I would recommend taking the dog to obedience classes and doing lots of research on the dog rather than just locking it away from people. I hope you have a good experience with your dog.

im terrified of dobermans too... I was attacked by one when i was 2 years old... (and it was a police dog too... was put to sleep after it attacked me) I just cant look at them... find out if your friend was attacked or why he/she has this fear... its something that will take a LONG time if ever to get over... im 27... so in 25 years i havent been able to get over it...

I have a dobie and he's the biggest, sweetest, baby in the world. Every dog of every breed is unique in personality. Just because you may have had a bad experience with one, doesn't make them all bad. Reason with your friend, but it's your dog and your choice.

I don't think so. The dog thinks and feels like us. Your friend may have a problem with them but if its just a puppy she/he cant be to scared of a puppy. So, let her pet it and feed it off the floor then let her give him/her food from her hand
~hope that was helpful
