Caldonia is one of the old names for Scotland, and was once quite popular for girls. It is still heard, on occasion, and there was a song in the 40s, about Caldonia.

There was also a Greek people the Calydons. Part of teh Hercules myth included the Great Calydonian (Caledonian) Boar Hunt. There seems to be a connection between these and am later imigration to Scotland. Check out "Caledonian Boar Hunt" on teh net.
