the problem is, she needs me to do everything for her, and get everything at the store, etc, which, I donot mind at all, but, she isn't very nice to me.
For example, she gave me a list of 12 things and I got 2 of the wrong items, and she said in her nasty NY accent(I have nothing against NY'ers)"I guess you'll have two things you're taking back"
I'm so bitter and angry at her, I hate to do anything for her. Anyone in my situation?

I'm sorry that your boyfriend's mother isn't being nice to you.

ALS is a progressive disease that eventually makes it impossible for the patient to do anything for themselves. They basically become a prisoner in their own body. I know that she has to be very scared about what she is experiencing.

She sounds as if she is someone who likes to be in control of her life. Because she can't control what is happening to her body, she is trying to control the things that she thinks she can control including you.

Do you have someone there you can vent to? It's important to get those feelings out without taking them out on her. You are in a category called a caregiver. I know that there are resources out there for caregivers and there may be a support group in your area. The issues that you are dealing with applies to any caregiver, so the group wouldn't have to be ALS-specific.

I don't know if any of this will help, but I hope that it will.

Im sorry for your situation....would be nice to have her showing some love in her final days.... Understand this though, ALS is a terrible, terrible way to go. I consider myself to be someone who is generally nice to people until given a reason not to be, but if I had a terminal disease, I cant say as though I would be cheery - not an excuse for her, but just try to love her as you can, regardless of her behavior - it will preserve YOUR spirituality
