To be a Christian is to follow the teaching of Jesus. Jesus never taught to kill. Therefore the Crusaders were not Christians. They just called themselves that.
I'm just sick of answers that say..."look at all the killing that Christians have done."
A Christian has not killed anyone. Only those who "claim" to be a Christian have.
Find in the Bible where Jesus taught his disciples to kill in the name of Christ, and then I will believe you.

Byefareed:
Good try, but Jesus didn't say that.
Jesus was telling a story about another man who said that.

Matt:
Key word in your statement..."God", ....not Jesus. Read the question before answering.

Byfareed, again, besides Luke, you have given Old Testament examples. Jesus was not present in the Old Testament. Jesus said none of these things.

Where does he command people to kill? He doesn't and you are grasping for straws.

I agree, Muhammad was an evil man. And you are right, they take verses out of context to try and make them sound like they know what they are talking about. In all reality, all it does is expose their ignorance.

Very well said!

Remember that the people who bring up "all the killing Christians have done" are not really worried or distressed about all the alleged killing.

That's just their excuse for throwing rocks at a Church that teaches certain things that they don't want to hear, or that don't jive with their lifestyles.

It's the same when they blame overpopulation (which is a myth anyway) and poverty on the Church's ban on contraception.

These blamers aren't really interested in alleviating poverty -- if they were, they would sign up to sponsor a child in a poor country through the many agencies run by the Catholic Church and other Christian institutions.

Nor are they interested in gaining Church-approved contraception for the world's poor. They're just interested in getting Church-approved contraception for themselves!!!

Jesus himself said that many people would call themselfs followers of him, but there would only be few that truely are. So yes, the person who said there must only be a couple hundred Christians in the world is on the right path. The Barnam Group has done surveys that say less than 25% of people proclaiming to be Christians actualy follow Jesus' teaching. Is this a new fad? No. Judas was the starter of it. So all the "do as I say don't do as I do" or the hate filled people proclaiming Jesus may infact be false. That being said, only God knows a persons heart.

I am amazed how the people that don't have a "Personal" relationship with God try to rationalize against the " Followers of Christ".

Those that don't have the Spirit will "Never" comprehend the things of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

That's why some of these answerers take God's word out of context and really expose themselves as to their illusive, imaginary, inaccurate, incorrect, mistaken, unfounded, distorted, erroneous, and faulty, sense of reality.

Jesus did not teach his disciples to kill anyone!

Jesus "Never" sinned! He never robbed caravans!

Jesus Never had sex with young "Children". He never ordered people's heads to be cut off!

This is what Jesus did and gave His followers the authority to do;

Acts 10:38
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.

While I would agree that the crusades exactly opposed the fundamentals of Jesus Christ (Jesus wanted us to leave most of the smiting to him) I disagree with the statement that these people who did it were not Christians. The people who went to war were told by the respective pope of each era that by killing any infidel (AKA, brown people, since several Christians were also killed) would guarantee them entrance into heaven. Since the Bible does state when referring to Peter (who is the disciple by which the Pope draws their authority from), "whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." In other words, whatever the Pope says, Jesus Christ backs up. So, while we can now look back and judge that these people weren't Good Christians, they were Christians nonetheless. They unfortunately weren't thinking for themselves, which is understandable since a large portion of the Christian community were completely illiterate, impoverished, and subjugated to the demands of a feudal lord and corrupt church for all their lives. Of course, none of these things excuses the crimes of humanity that these men (and women) inflicted.

I do not name myself a Crusader, and I have certainly not met a Christian who known as themselves a Crusader. And I do not why I could desire a Muslim to hear me within the first position. I inspire them cross and be well Muslims.

That would mean that there are only a few hundred Christians in the world.

Christians have not just killed people, they have massacred three continents and countless countries. That is reality. There is a difference between reality and ideals.

Its funny how people do things in the name of God, Allah, or whatever, when these same religions say killing is wrong. These are people who have been fooled into thinking a certain way by people who use religion as a way to convince others. I guess that terrorists aren't real muslims.

Have You ever heard of Joshua? Jericho? God commanded Joshua and his army to destroy Jericho.
Another examlpe is Ezekiel and the Babaloynians. How else do you think that the holy land would have been retaken if it wasn't for Christians?

Nowhere did Jesus tell his disciples to kill in His name, but Mohammed told his followers to kill in his name. Why is that?

DO YOU REALIZE THAT YOU ARE AN UTTER IMBECILE

"Think not that I am come to send peace: I came not to send peace but a sword." (Matthew 10:34) "He that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one." (Luke 22:36) "But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me." (Luke 19:27) "If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned." (John 15:6)

You are a complete Idiot
