It is simple.
When you are under age it makes your parents (or guardian) responsible for your actions.
When you are of age you are responsible for your actions.
The law attempts to keep you and others from exploiting you.
Walk outside if you can and ask yourself are there a great many nude children pics around? Well that's what you are doing when you put photos on the Internet. You are putting your photos out for the world to see and in some cases associate with you.
NOT everyone is bad sick or crazy, but there are certainly enough of them that a society governed by law would take steps to protect its citizens. Especially its youngest and most influential.
Read. Learn.
When you learn how to do it safely, then consider trying it carefully.
Life is short and you only get one at a time.

Because anyone under 18 is considered to be a minor. When you're a minor, you're considered to not be able to make decisions (such as whether to post a nude picture or not) by youself, as you do not have the experience or the thought processes to understand the outcome of that action. This applies as a general rule even though a lot of people aren't dumb enough to post nude pictures on the internet, just to safeguard those who can't reason out that posting nude photos = stalkers.

Well deary, either you are a person under the age of 18, or you are a no good pervert (as Pop would say.) If you are under the age of 18, then you need to understand that the only ADULTS who are interested in you are no good perverts. If you are an adult, go wash your brain out with soap, and start looking at nude pictures of ADULTS.

because there would be lots of perverts out there, getting off on young peoples photos,
the law is designed to protect you until they think you can take decisions for yourself about such things as pornography.
unfortunately some people mature before 18 and others some time after, some never mature, but the law has to have an age and they decided 18 is reasonable
there is nothing wrong with showing your body off, as long as you have taken an adult decision and you are aware of the consequences

It is just to protect anyone that is too young to be concidered by the goverment to be socially smart enough. I think in practice there is a wide range of sofistication in ages. For example some people never grow up to a piont where they would be concidered intelligent enough to make desitions for themselfs. The law is there though to set a bar of acceptablity for when a person should be capibling of taking responiblity for thier own actions. I agree with that, but I disagree with the fact that differnt ages are used from state to state and in different situations, for instance 18 to fight and die for your country, but 21 before you can drink respocnibly, and ranges from 16-18 in ages of concenting sex and other laws... They need to define where a person is responcible to make their own desictions and stick to that age for all things... I think 18 is a good age, what do you think?

Because it's inappropriate for CHILDREN! When someone is under 18, they may not have life experience to realize what the repercussions of posing nude are.

Till 18 you are immature, in the head-brain-experience-in knowing intentions of people.
Till 18 the body is not fully developed and pedophiles like to feast their eyes on youngsters(like porn).
That why.
Help keep the internet clean.

I would imagine it has to do with all the kidnappings, perverts who molest children & the fact that society has the opinion that someone is not mentally an adult till at leat 18-21, I believe it is more or less a safeguard to protect children from predators.

Personally, when I was that young I would do some pretty stupid things that I did not realize were wrong. The laws are there to protect kids that don't always realize what they are doing is wrong.....Do the laws always work is a completely different question.
