why do you have to belong to a religion? Believe what you believe and live a good life - you don't need a religion to instruct you how to do that...

It sounds like a mixture of Hinduism and a New Age philosophy. Hindus believe that how you live this life determines what you will come back as in the next life. The goal is to escape this life and reach Nirvana. What we all really desire, I think, is to know the truth about life. What really becomes of us? Is there something beyond this life? What's the purpose of it all? What am I here for? Does anybody care? In your search for answers, if you haven't already, I would suggest including some honest research into the claims of Christ. Check out for yourself what he had to say in the Bible, what others have said about him. An old, but good, book that might be helpful is "More Than a Carpenter", by Josh McDowell. A favorite of mine is "Mere Christianity", by C.S. Lewis. In your search, don't be afraid to ask hard questions. About Christianity, about Hinduism, or any other faith. Talk to pastors, rabbis, other adults that you respect. I read a quote that says, "Be careful what you believe about the world. The world is like that." What you believe is vitally important. Don't settle for less than the truth.

Your own. There is no need to take sides. Religion is only a word for the path to God. With all these books that are within religion groups. Those texts have just recorded what their steps to God has been. Jesus, Buddha, Mohammad - whoever. They are not you. You can learn from them, but you are unique. Follow your heart and find the true God in your everyday lives. If you would like, sure, go ahead and read up on the teachings given from each religion. They each help one get to each of their destinations, but they do not do the job for you. You know the key points in life. That is enough to build upon. Find yourself. Live a good life to the best of your abilities from the actions you choose and remember, life will always go on, so why are you in a rush? Relax and enjoy your life. Cheers!

Buddhism is not a religion, but that and Hinduism are the only two belief systems that profess reincarnation.

You can't just decide what you believe and find someone else that believes like you do.
Acts11:26
And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with THE church and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

Hinduism encorporates all that into their religion. But remeber, you don't have to belong to a religion. You can just believe.
