most of the mozzarella sold in the states is made from cows. The people that said there are no buffalos in italy are wrong, dont know where they go their information. In fact the best mozzarella in italy is m ade from buffalo milk and its called mozzarella di bufala campana( buffalo mozzarella from campania, a region in italy) and it is out of this world,, try to get a hold of some if you can, u might be able to get it at a gourmet food store in the states.its more moist than regular mozzarella and tastes great...

Most is made out of cow's milk but if you want to taste the real thing, you have to buy some that is made out of buffalo milk!! It's the best!

It can be either. Normal mozzarella is made of cow milk, but "mozzarella di bufala" is made of buffalo milk.

not the kind I eat. What I eat is made from goat milk, I wouldn't think that it was made out of buffalo!

Buffalo is supposed to be the best (creamiest and richest) but the generic American stuff you buy in the store is probably cow.

I dont think so. I think it originates in Italy and there aren't many a buffalo wandering around there!

no, cow's milk, either whole or part skim. usually, cheeses use only three animal milks: cow, sheep, and goat, although these are for commercial production, and there may be others.

It is almost always cows milk...in the US...there is however one made from bufalo milk(its on the label)
