it seems to me that from all of the media coverage on "the scandal in the church" that the only kids priests are going after and raping are little boys... are all priests gay sodomists or is that just my take on the world?

okay, you guys have good points... but isn't it against the catholic religion to be gay, and isn't it also against the religion to be a rapist? i mean, if these guys believe so much in their religion, why would they really do that to a kid?

Teachers violate children much more often than priests. And its just not priests, pastors and preachers from other religions have been involved in sex scandals as well. So no, not all priests are gay.
kimberly0627: Not all Catholics priests are gay. That's a very ignorant statement to make. I know of priests that were in another denomination and got married and then became Catholic. So wait, there are married Catholic priests?! Hmm, seems like they're not all gay.

Of course they are not all gay.
The percentage population is probably a little higher as many homoseuals have been historically drawn to religious service.
But there is also a difference between being gay and being a pedophile. Priests are supposed to be heterosexual celibates. Neither is exclusively true.

no, i see what you're saying - priests are supposed to be highly respected and morally superior or whatever for their religion... they're supposed to be the closest to god or whatnot, and then a bunch of them go off and rape little boys - not even little girls (or at least not as many) for that matter...
even though it is a small percentage of them, priests are supposed to be the people that others go to for guidance and help, and a few have abused their power, so the rest are given a bad name.

are all cops gun happy, no, you can not say that an entire group of people are one way or another, everyone is an individual. i know that from all the news about them it may seem so but that is a small percentage of them you hear about
