Well they can plead that but that shouldn't keep them from being locked up. No matter what they plead, if they kill they should be locked up forever...

No.Some people who do these crimes are not able to think clearly, some people who commit murders have a plan in place( remember the mother, Susan Smith I think, who strapped her young boys into their car seats and let the car roll into the water and let her children drown.)She had concocted a cover story for what happened which proved to me that she knew what she planned was wrong. It is too easy to say you are insane . Parents who arbitrarily abuse their children because they can.We all know or have heard of people that lived "normal" lives until one day they showed their true or hidden self.Whether sane or insane they should pay for their actions. How does the victim get to plead for justice but through the courts? If courts allow killers to go unpunished then the victim 's life appears to have less worth than the criminal. The victim is never got a second chance when their sentence was imposed.Death is final.

This issue is NEVER going to go away and Yates trial only highlights it. Post Partum is an actual problem. Now does it qualify as insane? That I cannot say. I will say this outside of Yates I cant think of any woman who killed her children as result of Post Partum depression. Now it does appear Yates was on some anti Depression medicines that suggest he problems were way beyond Post Partum. Now should a woman who kills her children be allowed to use insanity defense? No matter what your personal view you cant separate A Mother killing her children from any other killing far as defense is concerned. The rules of defense cant change because of who was murdered. If your insane your insane. Personally I had hope Yates got death so I certainly don't support her insanity plea. However there are those who are insane and cannot be held libel for what they do but this is a tough case to prove.

Having been abused your self isn't a protection to homicide, and would not show you how to plead "insanity." maximum jurors have an same opinion you do, and that is totally complicated to effectively mount an insanity protection. yet there are some those who're truly mentally ill. did you comprehend all people with extreme psychological ailment? i'm no longer speaking about those who after the very reality say they have had a complicated existence. i'm speaking about those who hallucinate, etc. i'm no longer certain what it accomplishes to take someone who's performing on voices of their head or seeing visions or in spite of and positioned them in reformatory (particularly of a psychological medical institution) for something else of their lives. ailment is ailment, in spite of the poor consequences. i have were given some faith contained in the jury equipment (a lot extra so than in "trial by utilizing the clicking") to distinguish the truly ill from those who're faking. the unhappy element in circumstances the position the mummy is truly mentally ill is that no one else who knew the youngsters became able to get the youngsters in a extra probability-free ecosystem and get the mummy help.

No they shouldn't I feel like alot of ppl try to plead insanity to get out of things. My mother was sane, meaning she knew what she was doing. She didn't want to serve the prison time. She did anyways but she still says when she gets out she is going to come and kill me. Both of my parent had and alcohol and drug problem. My mother was very abusive and my father was gone all the time. My mother almost killed my younger sister and she is serving a seven year prison sentence for child abuse and neglect. Me and my siblings were placed in foster care and are all seperated. It has ruined our entire family. We never did anything wrong and were good kids This has been almost seven yrs. ago and we are still trying to get things back together. Both of my parents gave all four of us up for adoption and none of us are adopted yet. It has caused us to have major depression problems and problems with making relationships with other people and trusting them. I haven't spoken to any of my family in over six years except for my brother and sisters.

No they should not be able to claim insanity. But you know what the dad seems to have nothing to say about all this either, he should have kept his pants zipped up after the second child, or should have seen something was going on with her. He is not comptley innocent with this thing either.

Heck no! I've been through PPD and I now suffer from Severe depression and would NEVER dream of killing my kids. The truth be told my kids are what keeps me going. I think mothers who kill their children should be sentences to life in prision. Don't give them the death penity make them suffer life in prision!

wouldn't you have to be insane in order to kill your own children, i mean normal people with good mental health wouldn't do something like that. However i do feel they should be locked up forever, people like that should not be free in society.

Does it matter whether or not they're insane. They are capable of killing their own kids. Lock them up and throw away the key

no, unless it was investigated and found to be an accident. Then it's just an accident. Any mother who kills their own child on purpose should die. Eye for an eye.
