Dear Daniel,
I went into the Army to get away from my mother and step-father. It was a hard time being in the Army but it was easier than being in a place like my step-father's house where he was drunk and fighting. Sometimes things were even worse and we would be afraid for our lives.
In the Army, you can keep your religious values. You can still be a Christian. You will find other Christians there. No one understands the need to believe in the Lord as much as one who walks through the Valley of the Shadow of Death. The Army provides chaplains for most kinds of Christianity. Prayer groups also can form within and between units as long as everyone keeps to their mission and assignments.
You will find people of all different faiths and some with no faith at all in your unit. It is very important for the harmony of your unit that you do not spend time trying to convert these soldiers not of your faith. It is annoying and makes you NOT of their team.
The way to bring people to your Lord is by example, quiet example. When they see what kind of Christian you are, what your belief in Christ does for you, then a few might ask. Wait for them to ask. If you preach to the unwilling, you make enemies both for yourself and for Christ. Your unit commander will have to talk with you about it, too.
Get as much education and as many skills that translate into jobs outside the service as you can. Understand that the first mission of the military is to meet with and to neutralize the enemy. That means killing them, destroying their homes, water supplies, food, and medical. In short, being a force of evil in their eyes. Justify it any way you wish (and we all have to when we serve) but when you see a child who is blown apart from a mutition you set off, you come to understand this.
So serve your time, learn to earn, get out and get a real job in the real world. Do nothing dishonorable.
May God protect all the children and put an end to these senseless wars.

The first thing that you need to do if you want to achieve a career in the Army, is to get an education. You are virtually illiterate and Soldiers need to be able to read and write well. Worry about that for now and then when you are an adult you can make your own choice.

First finish school ! And maybe by then thanks to the soldiers now and in the past, there will be no war for you to get involved in. Your too young right now to be worrying about such things enjoy your teen years while you can, because they will be gone before you know it.
