I am looking for a small~8lb terrier. Black with silver like undertones. Very faithful, laid back, well behaved, protective dogs. Looks kind of like a combo between a Cairn, Yorkie and Toto. Helpful websites w/ pics are appreciated as well.

Sounds like a Miniature Schnauzer...with a natural coat. Most of them you see are clipped.>> http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&rls=GGGL%2CGGGL%3A2006-18%2CGGGL%3Aen&q=miniature+schnauzer&btnG=Search

Possibly a shih tzu? Your best bet is to look at
www.petfinder.com and view the many breeds they have there. You can breakdown your search by size being that you're not sure of the breed. I'd include a photo of the shih tzu, but this message board won't allow, however you can use the link below to see what they look like.

This particular breed is VERY sweet and playful but not hyper. Although they have long hair they don't shed and are easier to groom than they appear. Just some info. I volunteer with an organization that rescues small breeds and I don't have any shih tzu pups myself (I'm a pekingese person) this is one of the breeds that we specialize in.

Good Luck.

Sounds like a toy schnauzer! I have one, but she is solid black, but they come in a salt and pepper, which sounds like what you are describing. They are very intelligent, protective, and can be laid back , but only as older adults.
Check them out at:
