Not necessarily. In the case of fraternal twins, they do seem to happen frequently within some families. Fraternal twins occur when the woman/ mother releases 2 eggs, one from each ovary, during the ovulatory phase of her cycle and both get fertilized. Because the two resultant embryos were formed from entirely different ovum and spermatozoa, they have entirely different genetic material. Thus, the twins will look different and may even be different genders. It's like carrying two singleton babies in the same pregnancy.
For most woman, when one egg is released by an ovary the resultant progesterone production suppresses the release of any further ovum from the other ovary. However, in some families, this suppression tends not to happen and an unusually large number of fraternal twins in born.
Identical twins occur when a single fertilized egg divides into two, in a sufficient enough way, that the resultant halves have enough information/ material to produce two embryos. Because, both stemmed from the same ovum and sperm and thus, have the same genetic information, the resultant twins look alike. This is an entirely random occurrence.

Yes usually it does skip a generation but since you have twins on both sides it makes you more likely to have twins.

It depends mostly on your family. In my family every third generation has twins. You have a increased chance since both parents come from family's with twins. You might want to ask your parents or grandparents if there was other twins in the family.

There is an old saying that twins skip generations, but I have seen this happen in generations one right after another also.

I have heard that but my grandma had 3 sets of twins and one of the girls from the second set had aset of twins of her own.You probably have a greater chance since they run in your family.
